OMG!!!!Asshole standing in the surge with a CHILD!
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/feature?section=news/local&id=6102015

They just showed an adult and a CHILD standing in the surge in Galveston. I cannot believe people. OMFG.

The news crew actually filmed them for a second and then moved away. Oh well. Kid's going to drown, lets move on.

I feel sick.

be that stupid. He/she probably thinks it's an opportunity for the kid to see history in the making. (If they don't drown.)

What an absolute imbecile.

Actually, I was glad that they moved the camera, because I didn't want to see the kid to get swept away. (I suspect they didn't want to risk catching that either.)

34. We need more of "thinning the herd".
Idiots who in earlier ages would have died of foolishness before passing along their DNA are kept alive by a protective society and/or medical science. We're thwarting evolution! So idiots thrive and the race does not improve.

9. I've been seeing it a lot today while watching footage.
I understand that some people are too poor to leave, but taking your kids to the fucking coastline when the water is already breaching the seawall??? The local police need to take those kids away, at least temporarily, and get them the hell out of there. Children don't deserve to die because their parents are fucking morons.

52. picture 17 in the first 21
one son taking a picture of mom and the other son as waves twice as high as them crash over the sea wall. No concern about being swept back over the wall by the current, no concern for rip currents once over the wall, and no concern about being bashed into the wall if they would have made it out of the rip current.

No concern from the smiling mother, but the kid looked scared. I am so glad my parents had common sense.

Photo 11 in the next 21 shows kids in Cuba doing nearly the same thing.

14. Update: The newscaster asked the on-site reporter if the officials made the adult and child leave.
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 12:50 PM by FedUpWithIt All
She said the officials are not going down onto the beach. She did not see the two but did see an adult walking on the beach. I am putting out good thoughts that the child is moving to a safe place and that he/she survives his/her worthless parents ineptitude.

37. Screw you. They can risk their own lives, but what gives them the right
to risk the life of a child who depends on them for safety?

I couldn't give a damn about the capable adults who had the chance to go and decided to stay. If they don't value their own lives, fine--their choice. But when we're talking about an innocent child, who is only in danger because his or her parent is a fucking selfish asshole, that's a whole 'nother ballgame.

Parents who deliberately put their children in great danger don't deserve to HAVE children. The police there should be scooping up kids and getting them out of harm's way, and to hell with any parents who protest. And if you had the chance to leave, but decided to stay (and force your kids to stay,) then if any of your children die in this storm, you should go the fuck to PRISON.

32. Not in the film i was watching. The child looked to be no more taller than the parent's chest.
So what 8 or 9, at most (It was being filmed from quite a distance), and when the waves were coming in the child would twist way from the impact. Looked like the kid was not so happy about the massive amounts of water hitting them. The way the kid was moving reminded me of the kid in the car wash a few months back.

Kids would instinctively KNOW that that situation could be a life or death. A little body cannot anchor itself against that water pressure in the same way that adult can. Just sad.

The 1900 Galveston storm killed at least 90 children just in one orphanage alone.

(If you're looking for a really well-written book on that storm, try Isaac's Storm. It's riveting and horrific.)

44. I know it's not the same but very upsetting to this animal lover.....
CNN just showed some two assholes on the beach in Galvaston with a SMALL dog on a leash (looked like maybe a Westie) and a HUGE wave came and completely engulfed the dog. I think it was okay.....the people, however, might want to have MRI's though to make sure they have fucking brains!! Some people are seriously too stupid and crass to exist.
