The Activist Milestones — Developing the Skills to Become a Trained Citizen Activist
The Activist Milestones — Developing the Skills to Become a Trained Citizen Activist

The activist milestones are meant to be used as a step-by-step guide for you to introduce new volunteers and other community activists to the concrete actions they can take to hone and develop their skills as effective citizen activists.

Taking these actions one by one builds a solid advocacy foundation for your group, and breaks down what is often an incredibly overwhelming amount of information RESULTS activists feel they need to learn in a short amount of time.

These links and the RESULTS Activists Toolkit (sent to all RESULTS groups as a part of the Group Leader Handbook) will allow activists to mark their progress as they move through the milestones and give group leaders the roadmap they need to facilitate skills training in their new groups and new volunteers.

2. This is great. My wife is taking some college courses
for "civic engagement" and she will love to read up on this. I call her the "soccer mom of the pro-peace movement".:D

This Friday is my talk on homelessness, and I've printed up a list of Actions they can take. These are JUST the very resources I need to round out the talk!

Thank you so much!

8. If I survive it, I'll be posting about it..... ~~chortle~~~
It's this Friday, at the synagogue, as part of the Shabbat service.

There is a local public health nurse who will not only be giving the health aspects, but kinda propping me up when my knees go weak. ^_^

There will also be other poor and formerly homeless people in the area who will attend, and the rabbi suggested having a roundtable after the service concludes and we have dessert. Hopefully these other people will chime in and answer questions and talk about their own experiences, to flesh out the stats I'm giving and to make it not about me.

It has the potential to be the beginning of a real community Y!MBY effort..... I'm afraid to hope for that, but at this point, I need all the hope I can find, even if it ends in sad disappointment.

Send me some soothing thoughts, 'K?

Thanks again for all the wonderful info you post! I've included some of it in the handouts that the rabbi has copied for everyone to have, and some will be mentioned in my talk. You and your mother have a rather large role in this talk. ^_^

Hopefully I can do you proud. ~~silly grin~~

10. You'll survive it, bobbolink, and you'll do a great job!
I think it's great that the synagogue is doing this, and that they're bringing poor people together this way. I hope all goes well, and that this becomes a community activist group. Here's to opening some eyes & hearts, and to Y!MBY! :toast:

I'll be looking for your report after the service! Much luck and love to you, bobbolink.
