Holy Moly! What happened to Maureen Dowd?

It's a good thing we didn't (s)elect that 'stiff' Al Gore. I believe she used that word as well at the time.

8. She can write, I'll give her that but she couldn't say mush on TV

and come off sounding or looking intelligent for the life of her. She is terrible every time she gets face time on a network. She even came off sounding dull and uninteresting on Real Time on HBO the last time she was on. I thought she fell asleep sometime during the airing. Even her snarks sound lame and ineffectual lately.

Maureen, babe, hire thee a media consultant if you are going to continue appearing on TV. You come off as a drugged out airhead that gets befuddled with every question. I know you are smart, I know you can string words together really well but very few TV viewers are going to "get" you without you doing a little work.

I just watched the Clint Eastwood classique film "Unforgiven" the other night. The sherriff Little Bill, as you allude to, often intentionaly mispronounced the "Duke of Death" to say the "Duck of Death."

27. I can't stand the Queen of Snark whether in writing or on TV. It bugs me that,

like Brooks, she has the credibility of the NYT behind her.

A lot of DUers love her when she occasionally bashes a RW target. But her writing overall concentrates on snarky cleverness at the expense of all and has very little substance most of the time, so, for me, better to reject all of it than to seek out those rare times when her target coincides with ours.

She is to me the "Mr. Blackwell" of political commentary (that's the guy who does the snarky "worst dressed celebrities" lists).

On TV she seems shrill, desperate, and is hard to watch.

When Tweety appears on TV looking poorly, we mention it - considering his diabetes and other problems - why shouldn't we mention when the ladies don't look well. We're not sexist or anything like that.

Quite frankly, as an aside, Im getting a little tired of DUers who like columnists like Tweety and MoDo and some others who 'bash equally'. Yeah, today we bash Bush b/c he's mentally challenged, impaired, and has led us into a terrible situation which may inextricable, and tomorrow we'll bash Kerry because he's so "French" and "too wordy and too bright".
