Super Bowl, Super Tuesday, Super-size Me, Supercalifragilisticexpialidotious, super, super, super. Jesus, will someone make it stop?!

Tomorrow is to presidential politics what yesterday was to pro football. (Setting aside, of course, the many dead Las Vegas bookies whose bodies are now buried in shallow, hastily-dug graves a couple of miles out in the desert. The Patriots were 12-19-point favorites???? Bang! Bang! Thud!) Both national political parties have front-loaded the various state primaries, insisting the bulk of the convention delegates all be decided during one day's voting. Genius, that. Keeps the two major parties in power and makes it virtually impossible for third-party candidates - or fourth party, or whatever - from ever gaining power (delegates) over the course of a drawn-out, truly legitimate primary season.

So, when the smoke clears tomorrow night, and the mirrors are put aside for post-Super Tuesday use, the Democratic and Republican presidential nominees may well have been decided.

Or, maybe not. At least not with the Democrats.

Always hard to tell with the Democratic Party. We have the unnerving ability to snatch - over and over again - utter, humiliating defeat from the jaws of certain victory. This year? It's a choice: Since we want nothing whatsoever to do with a truly Progressive Democrat - at a time when this nation, hell, the world! truly needs one - the Party has set it up so we get to vote either our sexism or our racism. Very cool, eh?

Republican voters? Horse snot! They will, once again, do as they are told even though it now appears Sen. John McCain has put huge cracks in the Party loyalty formed, lo these many years, by such real Americans as corporatist comedian Rush Limbaugh, the Religious Right maniacs, the neo-Conservative war-lovers, and jibbering anti-tax lunatic and former Moonie Richard Viguerie. (The pantheon of Republican nut cases and Moon bats is unending.) Rank and file Republicans are dazed and confused. The aforementioned "leaders" of this sorry political party are anti-McCain to the point of hysteria. Consequently, Republican voters, having been given confusing orders, may lurch into the voting booth and inadvertently nominate the religious crazy man, the Bible-chewing Mike Huckabee.

Meanwhile, complicating the all but guaranteed maniacal television reporting will be the fact that "wins" will be measured by which candidate gloms up the most delegates and which are awarded differently depending on the state and the party. With results from more than 20 states coming in at once, anchors will have to provide real-time explanations without getting mired in numbers. Ha-ha-ha. Bring on the "experts." Just don't, under any circumstances, mention the goddam voting machines.

So . . .

Tonight we will do our "pre-game" show, our lead-in to tomorrow's glorious celebration of, um, democracy! freedom! the essential franchise of a free people voting! A spectacle that causes painful envy among the various nations whose methods of leader selection rely more on bullets, poison, CIA plots and assassinations. Lucky them.

One of them was her upper right fang! I have them wrapped in gauze so Mr. c can see them when he gets home from Honolulu. (He went with friends to watch the Pats get their asses whupped. I didn't have time off.)

88. The vet's staff were so sympathetic when they saw Furry's lopsided little face.

And Furry was such a little love. Never tried to scratch or bite. The vet said she must be in a lot of pain, but that cats process it differently from humans. Still, I have antibiotics and painkillers, and I'm supposed to apply hot cloths a couple of times a day to help with the infection.

I'll be on for the late shift here! Got the kids to bed, then got interested ina Paranormal State tv show on A&E that had to do with dogs mysteriously dying on or near this property. And the lady that moved in the house with her dog said he was frightened all of the time and wouldn't go upstairs. Turns out, there had been some ritualistic killings of dogs there and some other stuff going on. Interesting.
