114. JRE will drop out after South Carolina if he does not come in first
He will endorse Obama, turn his $$ and organization over to him and then Obama will name Edwards VP.

Obvious from the stalking horse defense and then the big backslap from Obama to Edwards when the debate ended.

Because if the proverbial "nut with a gun" eliminates Obama, he'll be replaced by an even MORE progressive president, which the Rethugs would just love, which just might be enough to keep Obama safe!

lame's humor is a little twisted. I think it was from the four months he spent on the picket line in the snow a few years back (California Supermarket Strike and it snows big time in Mammoth). He went from a quiet mild manner soft spoken liberal to a full blown Michael Moore watching, Kucinich supporting,Gore adoration, tree hugging nut job. I'm fine with that leaves less room for fighting. But seriously he knows how you stand on workers rights just thought you would get the ironic twist of buying them a coke.

I definitely get the feeling they're working together somehow. It's not based on anything but what I see in front of my eyes- I honestly do not know what went down tonight, and I didn't see a thing. On this subject, my mind is a sterile field.

I do get the impression there's something going on between the two of them from these photos. I could be completely mistaken, but it's worth keeping in the back of my mind.

Evil though he is, Dead-Eye has changed the meaning of VP from silly background face to powerful position. Which is good for Dem's, I think, since we inevitably have two (or more) good candidates with non-identical positions.

(Since every R candidate is, basically, strong/war/richisgood/poorisbad/otherkindsofpeoplearescary, they don't gain much by having two (identical) faces running.)

Just a theory, though.

But, since Darth clearly has about 3 times as much influence over US policy as shrub does, I think, psychologically, subliminally, the Dem VP choice will be very important in getting out the numbers in the general election. And perhaps after the election, an Edwards or Obama VP would get a lot more attention and respect than Gore did.

And, of course, I'm figuring the Dem's probably need an overwhelming victory in order to beat all the fraud and cheating.

Edwards thinks most of her supporters will go to him if she's out and that's his possibility of winning
Obama thinks that she's his toughest competition

34. Doubt it
I think it's Edwards strategizing, as he did in 04. Remember, back then he wanted to go against Sen Kerry directly, so he constructed his battle plan in a particular way. This year, he thinks that if he can get against Sen Obama alone, he can win the nomination; if he has to continue to do battle against both Sens Obama and Clinton, he doesn't have a chance.

But then again I might be wrong.

86. Ryan's dirty little secret was outed by the IL media not by any of the Dems.
That was begun when it was still a Primary race for both parties. The media went after it, not the Dems.

Hell--Blair Hull was too busy following Obama around to be worrying about the general, and Hynes was posing WAY too much of a threat to Obama at that point for either one of them to be looking at anything other than the Dem Primary.

No way you can lay that crap off on any of the IL Dems in that race.

Obama wants to keep "negotiating" with the RW and corporations.

How in the world would they work together on that, unless Edwards caves, and then, of course, DU would go wild with "See, he wasn't honest. He said one thing and did another."

102. The enemy of my...
I just got done looking through the Obama's plagiarizing Edwards' ideas thread. It seems to me more likely that the two are just thinking along very similar lines... I mean, if the two are both "change" candidates, and HRC is the "status quo" candidate, then knocking her out of the race means that "change" wins.

I'm just guessing that that's what's behind it. The two are so closely agreed on things, it sounded like they had agreed "let the best man win, once we've got the right leaning establishment chick out of the way". Of course, I think the emphasis was on "right leaning estamblisment", rather than "chick", but I think there might be a lot of women disagreeing (it's kind of painful to me, actually, to see HRC being metaphorically slapped silly by the "tag team", at least until I remind myself that she is the most right-leaning of the field).

If the two don't turn on each other, if they keep it up, and the winner names the runner up for VP, well hell... special interests beware (unless the agents of my paranoid delusions within the government still hold enough power to kill 'em... though killing both will certainly be harder to arrange then killing only one or the other) !!

You know, the thought brings a smile to my face. Especially if my paranoid delusions should prove... delusional, and they both manage to put together even a fraction of what each is talking about, and live to tell the tale.

103. Obama/Edwards or Edwards/Obama Nice tune. Good beat. I can dance to it.
The concept has a certain logic and balance.

Kind of good cop/bad cop. Tough lawyer/coalition builder.

A lot of votes Barak can get, John can't. And a lot Barak can't, John can.

Edwards fills out the experience that some feel Obama lacks. And Obama has the authentic knowledge of being disenfranchised that some doubt in Edwards. Really a very good combination.

Once We the People force the Godamned DLC to swallow the bitter pill that we're not going to put up with any more recycled Muzak, we could very well find ourselves running two people with evident interest in fundamental change.

I actually am quite fond of, and have a great deal of respect for Hillary. But she has made a career, over the last decade or two, of being a cautious, incremental, work-within-the-sytem person. Things are bad now and could be a hell of lot worse by November. Time for insurgency, not caution, I would say.

112. talk about what ?
I don't see a Obama/Edwards or vise versa ticket

Obama needs more experience in the VP slot so they can remove "lack of experience" from the republican talking points this GE.

113. They had a "talk" about stopping Hillary. I think that was pretty obvious after they double-teamed
her last night. They were defending each other and both were going after Hill.

129. It might seem that way
but ANYONE running for Prez has a gigantic ego. However, I am SURE as the sun shines, that Edwards would do anything for Obama in a choice between him and Clinton. Edwards knows what a bad choice for America Hillary is.

141. Obama - Richardson makes a better ticket
The problem with Obama, Edwards, and Clinton is that none of them have any actual executive experience, and very little total experience at all. Plus Richardson is fully vetted by the national security establishment.

146. I hope so. But I'll BET BOTH are planning to balance the ticket with a centrist in the general
I don't think they share the notion that left populism is any more than a market pool of votes they are competing for in the primaries, to be "balanced out" with centrist "wise old men" in the general. So I don't see them joining forces, as that'd force them to send the message to the media and voters that they were serious about their newfound populism, and not just "pandering to the anti-Hillary left".

I'd take Obama and Edwards, Edwards and Obama against anybody, any time, anywhere.

If they are on a ticket, we cannot be stopped.

(What is WITH me? I am all of the sudden so optimistic. There must be something to this.)

Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 06:45 PM by RamboLiberal
I got the feeling Edwards was running for VP on the Obama ticket or vice-versa if Edwards would prevail.

Or another great post if Obama won would be Edwards as attorney general! That would be a great spot for Edwards to go after scum sucking corporations, health insurers, and crooked Repukes!

BTW, Edwards is my first choice, Obama 2nd, but I think right now Obama is holding the hot hand.
