Why is everyone announcing so early?

What is the deal with everyone announcing in JANUARY?

I think it's the media hype that's causing them all to announce so early in search of funds, and unfortunately I think the money, the interest, and possibly the candidates themselves are going to flame out waaaaaaaay before the convention.

Candidate A will remember the people who helped out right at the beginning. So a lot of people like to get their endorsements in early. Once someone has announced an endorsement for Candidate A, it's pretty tough switching to Candidate B latter in the game.

Consider Rahm Emanual. He is a former Clinton White House staffer from the same state as Obama. If only one of those two are running, that's who gets his endorsement. With both running neither gets his endorsement by default. So now Rahm can spend the next year hiding under a desk as he jokingly said he would do if both ran.
