2. I think he takes a longer view than most, Patriot Act, Iraq War vote,
and impeachment articles while too many others are caught up in the next few years.

He is not penny wise and pound foolish :)

4. Kucinich"some things (are) more important than the next election."
from your article, still reading and thanks for posting

"...In 1993, the City of Cleveland announced that it was expanding Muny Light. It was the largest expansion of any municipal electric system in America. I had been long gone from major elected office. In fact, after the default, most political analysts considered my career over. I had been asked many times by other politicians why I just didn't make the deal and sell the light system, especially when my career was on the line. I believe that there are, in fact, some things more important than the next election.

When a reporter from the Cleveland Plain Dealer reached me to tell me about the expansion, I was on a beach in Malibu watching the dolphins play. Cleveland was the farthest thing from my mind. After I left City Hall, I couldn't get a job in Cleveland, I almost lost my home, and my marriage fell apart. But I had no real complaints, because, according to a US Senate Subcommittee studying organized crime in the Mid-Atlantic states, I had survived, through sheer luck, an assassination plot. There was something comforting looking out on the Pacific and watching the waves glisten in the sun.

So when a reporter told me that people were saying that the expansion could not have happened without my making a decision to save the system, I thought "that's nice." People in Cleveland began to say that I was right not to sell Muny Light and they asked me to come back. So I did. I ran for State Senate in 1994 on a slogan "because he was right" with little rays of yellow light shining behind my name on my campaign signs. I was one of the few Democrats to unseat a Republican incumbent that year in a state election...."

12. Thanks, that thread is the reason I went looking for this video.
:hi:

And repeating from your article, he knew this would jeopardize his career and still made the decision he felt would be best for the people in the long run :) :)

Kucinich... "I had been asked many times by other politicians why I just didn't make the deal and sell the light system, especially when my career was on the line. I believe that there are, in fact, some things more important than the next election."

21. Dennis REALLY impressed me, and from the very start.
I first saw him at an anti-war rally in Seattle, shortly before the invasion of Iraq. He was "mingling with the crowd", and I even managed to exchange a few words with him. Later, he was on the speakers platform, along with Congressman Jim McDermott and others. I can't recall what he said, but my memory was that he was both well-spoken and SINCERE.

Later that year, I was on a picket line by SeaTac, in support of striking hotel workers. (I wasn't a member of H.E.R.E., but I frequently support such causes). Dennis came by and walked down the line, greeting each person there.

Yes, I'm familiar with the quote attributed to George Burns: "In politics, sincerity is everything! Once you learn how to fake that, you've got it made!" In my honest opinion, Dennis is NOT "faking it"!

22. Found thisYouTube clip on DU:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRxZ64Z7poE It's about an hour in length, so bookmark it and listen to it in entirety when you have the time.

That fucking Chickenhawk in Chief has come close to DESTROYING the Presidency as a legitimate branch of government. I believe that Dennis may be the only candidate capable of restoring it.

LISTEN TO IT!!!

sincerity comes through not only in his voice, but in his actions.

6. Wow
My husband says, "I hope he gets the nomination. And he just might get elected. And I would have faith in him doing something, moreso than the other ---- jokers we got."

That Dennis forgave and moved on--he's a BIG man.

If they haven't already.

Interesting to know who the CEO of the bank was at that time? It seems unlikey he would have had direct contact with the Mafia, or even been privy to its plans to kill Kooch, but it does put me in mind me of that saying of that Mafia snitch - to the effect that the Mafia had enabled him to mix with a better class of peole.

...and fortitude in standing up to crooked corporatists that could get him killed -- worrisome.

35. the ending reminds me of Smedley Butler and the rich who plotted coup against FDR
Congress knew who did it, but they did nothing about it because the parties involved were too powerful.

Sort of like Prescott Bush getting a fine for doing business with the nazis during the war when an average person would have gotten the electric chair.
