1. And, get ready to counter his plagiarism charge. It was an error in judgment as was McCain's
philandering. Which was worse? I LOVE the scene of his taking the oath of office next to his son's hospital bed. What a man! Said he would "try" being in office - father first.

Which reminds me - McLiar's slogan of "Country First" should be played as "Politician First"

15. The charge was way overblown as usual...
Biden gave credit for that ref when he used it at other times prior to that, and only forgot to that one time which happened to be videotaped. That was a legitimate forgetting, as anyone might.

It's another classic case of the RW "straining over gnats" of the Dems while "swallowing camels" of its own, as the saying goes.

28. The plagiarism charge is total horse shit
He quoted Neil Kinnick in 8 speeches, gave credit all but one speech. That makes him a plagiarizer?? FUCK that.

If that's all the pigs have to throw at us, we're in no trouble.

59. Biden's plagiarism was in 1987 when JSM III had the Keating Five going on.
Someone on MSNBC said that if they want to go back to that charge from '87, then Obama's team would be welcome to bring up other old charges like the Keating Five stuff.

But this interview was tough to watch. I had not known that he lost a daughter too. So glad his family was able to step in and help. His father gave him good advice.

I have always liked Sen. Biden's intelligence on foreign policy. I have disliked, though, the bankruptcy law that he crafted, considering how large corporations are allowed to have their obligations to pay on the pension plans of their workers, why cannot the poor have their credit card debt dismissed, especially if that debt is tied to a family emergency. Yet, the bankruptcy is the only grief that I have had about Sen. Biden.
Good Luck to our Party!

I have watched this several times -

it was SO frustrating to know the whole man back when I was working on his campaign and have the general public and media dismiss him with "oh, good foreign relations expertise - he can be SOS"

As I told many, many people back then, he really is Obama 20 years later - if anything moreso - the family man, quit the big law firm to work for the underprivileged... the parallels go on and on.

And the accusations of his being a "DC insider" - SHEESH, he commutes on Amtrak to from Wilmington, De.!! Has done so for 36 years!

68. The stuttering revelation provided an important insight for me
One of my beefs against Biden has been that he's more than a bit of a blowhard. He seems to enjoy hearing himself speechify, whether the rest of us want to hear him or not.

But knowing now that he had a speech impediment, I think I'm a little more tolerant of his tendency to enjoy hearing himself speak.

I posted this on my youtube page almost a year and a half ago....

and little did I realize, and who would've thought what would occur today.

I tried to post it as its own thread, but considering this being my first post, I'm locked out of starting anything new.

Perhaps someone above the 'able to post' count threshold could push it to the top.

74. I actually think...
...that this is a decent overview of Biden, but not "The" video that we should be pushing. So typical of the MSM, it focuses on "scandal" and the personal. The personal is a big part of who Biden is, but to end on the long and drawn-out discussion of his plagiarism (a non-issue from 20 years ago) shows their true colors. Very little coverage is given to his leadership in the Senate and his career in general.

A decent piece about a good man, but not the video that we should be using to promote our new VP candidate, IMO.

75. This is a GREAT video showing a man with vulnerabilities that we all have. It's not about Biden the
politician. It gives background of the CHARACTER of the man who has become a great politician.

After watching this video of Joe Biden, no one could come away unmoved. He's everyman, he's family, he's us. When the RW smear machine attacks Joe Biden, WE will feel attacked, we WILL take it personally and we WILL strike back and defend him and our Party.

The RW wackos want to build sympathy for McCain, the great POW? How about Joe Biden, the great politican who almost never was because he chose his family over politics after the devastating loss of his young wife and little daughter just before being sworn in to the Senate, agreeing to accept the Senate seat on a "trial" basis for 6 months because "you can always get another Senator, but my boys can't get another dad."

Priceless.

Please post and push whatever video you want - there are many on YouTube, and there will be many more showcasing what a great politician he is.

76. I agree that we all have vulnerabilities
and I have no problems with his past. But the simple fact is that uninformed voters tend to hold on to stuff like this, as does the MSM. They do not forgive nor allow people to be human. I am sure that Fox News will mention the "plagiarism" incident constantly for the next couple of months, therefore I just personally don't think we need to add to it by promoting an interview which focuses for a good portion of the time on that incident.

I personally found the video moving as well, and really like Biden as our VP candidate. I do not in any way disparage him for that past incident, and I view him as a man of integrity. I just do not think it helps us to bring that up. I found the rest of the video to be excellent, but honestly thought the addition of that incident, especially at the end of the piece, was a bit of a hatchet job by ABC (also considering other videos in the series about other candidates which left out larger scandals, IMO).

I am indeed pushing other vids about Biden, and speeches by him. And I think this is a decent addition to that group. I did not intend my comment in any way to disparage you for posting the vid - I was grateful to have seen it again. I just posted my honest opinion on the video.

But hey, if we both keep pushing in our own ways, it can only help. We stand together behind Obama and Biden. :)

77. For starters: Wikipedia link on Biden,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Biden

Wiki is not always accurate, but this is a starting point.

78. Hmmm...

I said that I was already promoting him and never indicated that I did not know basic facts about him, so why are you sending me a wikipedia link about a man that I have known about for years?

I was talking about our need to present the candidate in the correct light, and impressions outside of us hardcore Democrats, not requesting information about Biden.

79. You misunderstand - others read these posts - I wasn't implying that you don't know Biden, and
feel terrible that you thought that. Apologies for not making myself clear.
