UAE terminal takeover extends to 21 U.S. ports, not 6 (as widely reported)
UAE terminal takeover extends to 21 ports
By PAMELA HESS
UPI Pentagon Correspondent

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- A United Arab Emirates government-owned company is poised to take over port terminal operations in 21 American ports, far more than the six widely reported.

The Bush administration has approved the takeover of British-owned Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. to DP World, a deal set to go forward March 2 unless Congress intervenes.

P&O is the parent company of P&O Ports North America, which leases terminals for the import and export and loading and unloading and security of cargo in 21 ports, 11 on the East Coast, ranging from Portland, Maine to Miami, Florida, and 10 on the Gulf Coast, from Gulfport, Miss., to Corpus Christi, Texas, according to the company's Web site.

1. Leasing a terminal and operating the port are two different things...

3. I live 5 miles from one of those ports
which is also 5 miles from a Nuclear Power Plant.

I can assure you I don't want them leasing OR operating.

And you think that's scary, think about all the chemical plants nearby Newark's port :scared:

11. I'm trying to find a list
I'm not even sure if Wilmington is on it but I do know that the people who own Tiogo Terminal (the Philadelphia Port on the list) also have part ownership of the Port of Wilmington and that P&O did some work at PoW.

I do know the teamsters are going to be at PoW today and I wish I could go to help support them!

2. dirty filthy bastards
the article doesn't say which ports,
but that doesn't really matter. What we
are seeing here is the pattern of secrecy
and lies continues.

10. Lemme guess...
a lot of the terminals that aren't named are in Texas. Specifically, Houston & Galveston. Bush may not be too welcomed there once he's impeached.

28. List of ports; includes two that handle 40% of Army shipments to Iraq
Two of the P&O ports, Beaumont and Corpus Christi, handle nearly 40% of Army cargo deployed for the war in Iraq.

map at P&O company website shows the 21 ports: http://portal.pohub.com/portal/page?_pageid=169,1,169_82863&_dad=pogprtl&_schema=POGPRTL
Corpus Christi, Freeport, Galveston, Houston, Port Arthur, Beaumont, Lake Charles, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Gulfport, Miami, Norfolk, Wilmington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Camden, NY, New Jersey, Davisville, Boston, Portland ME.

from the P&O company website: P&O Ports Texas is one of the largest and most experienced stevedoring contractors and terminal operators in Texas. P&O Ports Texas provides stevedoring and terminal operations at the ports of Houston, Beaumont, Galveston, Freeport, Port Arthur and Corpus Christi.

At Beaumont, P&O Ports Texas is a Contract stevedore for the U.S. Army. At Corpus Christi, P&O Ports Texas customers include the U.S. Army
http://portal.pohub.com/portal/page?_pageid=169,112148&_dad=pogprtl&_schema=POGPRTL#beaumont

"Few Americans are aware of the volume of cargo that is shipped from ports located along the U.S. Gulf Coast from Brownsville, Texas, to Cape Sable, Florida. Some of these ports serve as major Department of Defense transportation nodes for overseas deployment of Army cargo. Two of these nodes are strategic ports located in Texas--the Port of Beaumont and the Port of Corpus Christi.

(Designation as a strategic port means that the port management will give priority to military cargo during a contingency.) Almost 40 percent of the Army cargo deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom flows through these two ports.

Although both the Port of Beaumont and the Port of Corpus Christi are container capable, petroleum and break-bulk products constitute most of the cargo shipped from those locations. The Port of Beaumont is home to one of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command's (SDDC's) port-handling battalions, the 842d Transportation Battalion." -- Moving the Army-Texas style, Army Logistician, July-August, 2004,

17. How many ports do we have in total?
Maybe the headlines should just read: "US handing over control of ALL its ports to the 9/11 bankers."

For a list of all the money wires between UAE and the hijackers leading up to 9/11, see this:

It's really difficult to squeeze any information out of these people. They act like our country is their own personal property and they don't have to tell you anything??
