So what's happening in YOUR neck of the woods?
Here, Dean's installed 4 field coordinators. Here's one of them.
I just got this email from Andrea Nair, field coord. for Southeastern WI and thought that sharing it might do two things: give someone an idea for their own area, and show people Gov. Dean's 50 state plan in action.
Oh, and I'm all about 2006 at this point. So that's another reason why I'm posting this.
Your Assistant Organizer, Andrea Nair, sent the following
message to the members of The Democratic Party of Milwaukee
County Meetup Group:
Friends and Activists,
The elections are nearly six months away and we want you to get
involved! We will be having several upcoming trainings to
teach you the basics of writing letters to the editor, calling
into radio talk shows, and canvassing/knocking on doors.
These opportunities are open to everyone, whether you're new to
campaigns and politics or you've been doing this for the last
20 years, we want you to be part of our team. Bring a friend
and make this a fun experience!
Here are the dates and times of the upcoming trainings and
workshops:
Training for Canvassing -
(lc note: snipping info that wouldn't mean anything to a non-local)
What: The training is being done with both the Democratic
Party of Wisconsin and the Sullivan Campaign for State Senate.
Come learn how you can help elect Jim Sullivan and oust
Republican State Senator Tom Reynolds. The skills you learn
here will be helpful for all campaigns, so I encourage everyone
to come.
(lc note: Tom Reynolds is cuckoo for cocoa puffs, even by Repub standards. I'm hoping Sullivan can take him out. He's working hard at it, going door to door himself and asking us in the party to walk with him.)
Interactive Media Workshop -
What: This is an opportunity to learn and role-play techniques
for getting our Progressive message out by calling radio talk
shows and writing letters to the editor. There is a nominal
charge of $5/person to cover the cost of material and
refreshments.
(lc note: This one is being put on by our former "Vets for Kerry" organizer, Tracy. She had never been involved in politics at all until the Kerry campaign. I see she's still at it. Good for her!)
