Some smaller birds I captured on our vacation

First, the very common red-winged blackbird. This is a male making a big deal of himself. I took this photo in South Padre at the Laguna Madre Wetlands.



Second, a male cardinal looking quite smug.



This next one is a very poor picture of Golden Fronted Woodpecker, a very handsome bird that I just couldn't capture. This is enough reason to go back. This is at the Laguna Atascosa Wildlife Refuge near Rio Hondo, Texas on the other side of the bay from South Padre.



Here is another distant view of one on some of the flora of the area.


In Harlingen, Texas I stopped at the Arroyo Colorado Nature Park and I found this kingbird. It is either a Couch's Kingbird, quite rare, or a Tropical Kingbird, not so rare.



In San Antonio while visiting my mother in law I saw tons of sparrows outside her apartment.

The female seems less than impressed.
