Gore's fall schedule (hmmmmm....)
This is a copy and paste from earthmother's blog on AlGore.org (http://www.algore.org/blog/earthmother/al_gores_schedule) which is from a DKos diary (link in earthmother's blog).

Take care before scrolling down. Sitting in a quiet area in a comfortable position is recommended. Also, a glass of water would probably be helpful (although to be truthful, I'm drolling all over myself and my heart hasn't stopped racing).

I mean, I can see leaving the dates after the Nobel Peace Prize open for interviews but. . .

Does everyone else see that his schedule is pretty wide open? N.B. I did find one source that mentioned Gore being in India in early December.

Al Gore's schedule
Posted September 24th, 2007 by earthmother
in

* Al Gore
* Politics

This schedule has been lifted from dailyKos (http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/9/22/14553/2656). All event listings are sourced, so you can check on exactly what the event is and also verify that it's happening.

If Gore will be in your area, please plan to have a presence at the event with as much visibility as possible--banners, rally signs, etc.--and also be prepared with materials such as bumper stickers and buttons. If you live in a state where there's a ballot initiative going on to get Gore's name on the primary ballot, make use of the event to gather signatures on the ballot petition. Please contact your state and regional directors about this.

September - Declined event (Colombia)
"Officials in Bogota said Gore also called off a planned September visit to Colombia, Washington's closest ally in Latin America."

http://findarticles.com/...

September - Cancelled event (Taiwan)
"Former US vice president Al Gore will not be able to make it to Taiwan this September to address the issue of global warming, Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Tien Chiu-chin (田秋堇) said yesterday. Tien, who invited Gore to visit Taiwan to promote awareness on global warming, told reporters yesterday that she received an e-mail from the Harry Walker Agency, which has the exclusive right to arrange Gore's speeches, saying that Gore had canceled all his scheduled events in the next six months. The visit to Taiwan had been postponed to next year, she added. Tien said the reason for the cancelation was that Gore was considering a presidential bid." Take this with a big fat grain of salt. Gore's schedule was obviously not cleared for six months.

2. fyi/addition: 30 Rock appearance
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 12:36 PM by Mabus
According to a number of schedules I've found on the internet "30 Rock" will air an episode called "Greenzo" on Nov. 1. It is before the NH deadline.

edited to add this link to one of the program schedules I found for Greenzo date: http://epguides.com/30Rock/

Way to go NastyDiaper! I'd hug you if, well, your diaper wasn't so nasty. ;)

They are well past diapers now, but the name stayed.

6. Out of curiosity, if the Michigan deadline is October 23
And Gore does declare before then, but then is a guest on 30 Rock, isn't there some law that all the other candidates have to get equal time?

7. Here's what Broadcasting Lawyers say
The gist of it is that a presidential candidate has to be qualified in 10 states before the rule kicks in. Right now the air date appears to be Nov. 1 which is before the deadline of most primaries. So, no, an appearance by Gore on "30 Rock" wouldn't be an open gate for the others.

"Equal time" or "equal opportunities" require that broadcast stations give treat candidates for the same political race in an even-handed fashion. If they sell time to one candidate, they have to give the other candidate equal opportunities to buy the same amount of time in programs reaching roughly the same size audience. If time is provided to a candidate without charge, and the candidate's on-air appearance is outside of a news or news interview programs and is not part of on-the-spot coverage of a news event, then the broadcaster must make equal time available to the opposing candidate, if that candidate requests it within 7 days of the use by the first candidate.

However, none of these obligations arise until a candidate is legally qualified - essentially when he or she has filed the necessary papers to obtain a place on the ballot in accordance with the governing law of the jurisdiction in which the election will be held. In Thompson's case, as he has not even officially announced that he is running, he is not yet a legally qualified candidate, so for the time being, there is no issue with the continued airing of the programs in which he appears.

In Presidential races, once a candidate becomes legally qualified in 10 states, he or she is legally qualified in every state. In the primary, that presents some issues - as many of the "primary" states don't have primaries but instead have caucuses. For FCC political rules purposes, lowest unit charges do apply to a caucus - but the FCC has not defined when a candidate for president becomes legally qualified in a caucus state which does not have any required registration process. For non-Presidential races, there is a presumption that one is not legally qualified more than 90 days before a primary - but that specific ruling does not apply in the Presidential race. So when a Presidential candidate is legally qualified in 10 states may be difficult to determine. it may be, with so many state moving their primaries to early February (see our comment on this move), the issue may be settled quickly as candidates become qualified in primary states with formal filing deadlines.

15. LOL
If it's like Michigan, though, you'll need his home address, where he's registered to vote, rather than his office address.

5. Yeah he sure doesn't seem to have much on it
after the nobel prize thing. do you think Hillary will get mean right away if he is in? Drop through other people negative shit about him? I am thinking she will try everything even having people call him a loser, of course never from her direct or her people...she has so many republican friends shit she could easily spread shit through them and then sit back and say oh isn't that terrible what they are saying about gore?

I just hope Gore isn't too nice this time, that is the only thing that scares me. Democrats have to fight back to win, it makes them look strong. If Gore is too nice again he will be wiped out.

I want to see the Gore that is on fire like when he talks about the environment, that Gore take on Hillary and the others. Show everyone he is mad and not going to take it anymore!!

10. What I've noticed
Al Gore's schedule is interesting.

He has declined or canceled all events overseas with the exception of a quick book signing in Israel and a major speaking engagement in the Caribbean until January 22, 2008.

Personally I believe Al Gore is better suited working let's say, in a new Cabinet Position for the environment. He could be both beneficial and influential to policy matters with his experience of Vice President, and would have the platform to make real changes in the environment.

11. I think he is great at whatever he puts his mind to
Edited on Sun Oct-07-07 09:00 AM by rosesaylavee
but out of curiosity, have you read his book Assault on Reason? I think that clinched it for me - esp after viewing his speech in January 2006 on MLK day regarding the constitutional crisis. I think he alone, of all the candidates running right now, has the ability to view the whole frame of issues confronting us right now and the smarts to work out solutions.

Not a messiah or savior or whatever GD states supporters of his think - but simply the best qualified human for the job right now.

edit: spelling

I would like to when I can find enough time without the many distractions currently in my life.

I would absolutely support Al Gore if he wanted to be nominated.
