3. Once I was looking at sound boards in a pawn shop...
...and no one would help me. I walked over to the jewelry and 3 sales people jumped on me within 5 seconds. I had to drag one of them over to the music stuff from there.

Sigh.

4. I think Jewel screwed it up for all women.
No one wants to give women musical instruments anymore, out of fear of what they will do with them.

Just kidding. :ducks:

6. Viola is always nice.
But I have a real problem with bands who have the token female member (being a keyboardist, I'm used to being the token keyboardist). For instance: Gregor Samsa. Token female keyboard player (of course she's the spitting image of Winona Ryder, so definitely easy on the eyes).

But viola is cool. Just don't take her for granted, damn it!

"Silent Night" a cappella. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

12. Eeeep! Girl Musicians! Ick!
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 02:07 PM by ProfessorGAC
Kidding, ladies! I like everyone who can play.

Now, i you can't play, all bets are off, but then gender doesn't matter. Those who can't play none, can't play none. How many "x" chromosomes one has is irrelevant.

Just thought i would stir the pot a bit with my title. You all know me well enough to know i'm messin'.

Just don't tell susang what i said about "singers". (Hee Hee)

I'm a bass player; I occasionally figure out how to fit the vocal around the bass line. Trying to get some guitar licks back. I'm just in it for the ... fun. :loveya:

I saw Jewel open for Neil Young at Madison Square Garden when she was just starting out. I thought she played her heart out but the acoustics in there are not kind to female voices.

(Edited to fix a smiley)

21. I've been told I am a guurly-man
I hate most sports, most "hard rock" music and musicians, don't drink crappy beer, and loathe sportsbars and Hooters, not to mention strip clubs. I am also mechanically inept when it comes to cars, but can hold my own with a soldering iron and a patchbay.

Furthermore, while I may have sported a mini-mullet in the mid-1980s, I was only a teenager and didn't know better. Also, I've never owned a pair of Zubaz or worn a wifebeater in a public place. Additionally, I have never had a "Calvin peeing" sticker on the back of my car for ANY reason.

Oh, and I'm also a musician, in order: vocalist, guitarist, guitar-synthesist, synth-player/programmer, bassist, saxophonist, latin percussionist and drummer (if I've had enough to drink).

However, I would KILL to find a female vocalist/guitarist who isn't into the riotgrrl thing, but can sing like a cross between Liz Fraser, Carly Simon, Petula Clark and Lisa Gerrard.

If you're in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and looking for a band, let me know.
