"War of the Worlds" as moden classic propaganda

Its a real stretch to call war of the worlds "classic Film", but please forgive...

In propaganda terms, the film frames some myths that need deconstruction.

1. The story is framed around tom cruizes character. He's supposed to
be a blue collar long shoreman crane operator in new jersey. The
story is designed around that POV.

2. Big evil enemies of the earth are attacking, and all of the world is
united against them. This is an endemic frame to the film, a "push
frame" from hollywood selling the only form of global cooperation they
can push, global war, and unity in war.

3. The blue collar guy (cruise) kills (murders) tim robbin's character
preemptively in the film to save his daughter from a possible threat.

The film is a work for the war of terror. In it, cruise is a false
champion of the working class, and rather is focused only on saving
his own family and as mentioned, kills other citizens in this process,
framing the family as the only unit of civil society.

So in effect, the characters are not true. He is not really a blue
collar champion, but a republican inspired shill acting out the
behavior of a chickenhawk in a world where the army and big weapons
are our saviours and benefactors, where citizens can be summarily
executed (robbins), to save one's family.

The film was the basest of propaganda, a dark crappy peice of work
that only made it off the cutting room floor because the white house
is pushing hollywood to make propaganda to support its political
adgenda.
