I've been vegetarian for one year.
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 08:45 PM by Bouncy Ball
I haven't been around much, but I did want to post to let you guys know it's been a YEAR! I feel great, I've lost a few pounds, and I honestly have zero desire to eat meat. The only adjustment has been in social situations where there aren't many options available (I live in Texas).

But in a way, it's been good. I'm far less picky, ironically. I used to get annoyed if I didn't get to eat exactly what I wanted to eat, but I've learned I have to go with the flow more as a vegetarian. I've had "tomato tacos" at a catered luncheon thing because they didn't even have beans there (plus the beans might have been made with lard). Hey, you adjust.

Also, one of the coolest blogs I have found (and it just won the Bloggie for Best Food Blog) is the Vegan Lunchbox. This vegan mom takes a picture of and describes her son's vegan lunch she packs every day and she has recipes, too. Is working on a cookbook. Anyway, it's very inspiring.

Thanks for being here as a source of support and information. I'm proud to celebrate one year! Here's to many more! (I'm making more moves towards veganism, but it's hard so I'm taking it in baby steps--the dairy I do have is all organic, though.)

Oh I forgot to add: I always liked veggies, but I had no idea how much I LOVED them until they became a bigger part of my diet. I am absolutely a vegetable freak now. There's not a single one I can find that I don't like, I'm serious.

1. Kewelll! I'm over 7 months now.
I'm not ready to go vegan, but I don't want to touch "meats".

5 years plus here, my lady is at 12 years - I can not even look at or smell meat anymore with out getting queasy, I can't believe that I was conditioned like that.

Bravo - you have gone through the hardest parts
