Scientists force two chatbots to have a conversation, prove that Skynet will be a moron
Researchers at Cornell's Creative Machines Lab thought it would be entertaining to allow Cleverbot — a program that's designed to imitate and accurately respond to human voices — to have a conversation with itself.

After a few semi-hostile remarks, things quickly took a turn for the verbal diarrhea. Folks, this is why the machines will never rise. They'll be too busy screaming about unicorns and navel gazing like Philosophy 101 students.

7. The problem is that Cleverbot is very poorly designed.
www.cleverbot.com

It's programmed to merely repeat what it's already seen verbatim. That's why the conversation never starts. Here's a 'conversation' I just had:
Hello.
Hello.
What's your name?
Bobby. What's yours?
Laconicsax. What's yours?
Your name is Kylie? Like Minogue?

There's a reason why it's only gotten to 42% in a Turing test. (Incidentally, the same rate as young-earth creationists.)

8. Why is computer generated speech still so awful?
Computer generated speech sounds about the same as it did on my Commodore 64 back in the mid-80s. You'd think that after 25 years, the technology behind that would have evolved somewhat.
