1. I hadn't paid much mind to Election Reform -- so this video brought it
to my attention. Also, I never really thought about the differences of "paper trail" or "paper ballot", so I'm glad the post pointed that out.

I'm pleased that Biden is aware of the problems, and has obviously given thought on what he feels are the steps to rectify it.

Thank you for this video -- and education!

Recommend for all others who might be helped by this as well.

3. This is really important
and too many politicians keep sweeping it under the rug. If we lose our vote, we've lost everything.

4. Simple solution, Two ballot counts
one during the election and one immediately following the election.

We trust the electronic count to get THE result fast but HAND OVER OUR BALLOTS so the people that want to do a slow/secure count of the ballots, can do so

Its that simple, we bought your machines to give us an idea of who won by the ten o'clock news, NOT so that you can store and or HOLD OUR ballots HOSTAGE!!

HAND THE BALLOTS OVER!! NOW!!

Question to the politicians: Do you have a problem having an electronic count to be immediately followed by a 100% Hand Count by the people?

5. A problem there...
While I understand what you're thinking/suggesting, we've learned that historically, whoever is announced the "loser" on Election Night has an undue burden/obstacle/prejudice against them.

Eg. Bush went all the way to the Supreme Court to argue that he would be irreparably harmed if they actually bothered to count the ballots in Florida in 2000.

Another Eg. Christine Jennings, who likely won the FL-13 election in Nov. 2006 is still fighting, challenging, paying attorneys, etc. to prove that she won while the guy announced as the "winner" on Election Night (Vern Buchanan) still sits and votes in Congress, a full year later.

I could go on and on. But the point here is that you need to Get it Right on Election Night.

Candidates can't well afford the money, prejudice ("Sore loser!") that accompanies a "loss" on election night in an unofficial tally. If the election night tally says someone "won", then a subsequent handcount is an uphill battle to change that announced result.

Generally, whoever is announced as the "winner" on election night (whether they really won or not), gets to be the winner!

7. Yes but the machines (barring a miracle) are
still going to be counting OUR ballots in 2008. If the machines are to be in place, then the fastest way (right now) to secure the machine count is to do a full hand count of all the available paper ballots.

Put the crooks on notice (RIGHT NOW) that there will be a second Hand Count of OUR Ballots, fox news can call it for who ever they want, but it is not official until the second Hand Count is done.

Biden can help make that happen. Thats all I'm suggesting.

6. Sorry to rain on your parade Kster, but --it's a bad idea to have electronic
count followed by paper count. That's what several counties do in CA (for the manual audit) and they always make the hand-count match the electronic count.

HCPB has built in 100% audit where each count is double-checked by someone else who has not been given a total in advance.

8. Ageed, I like that
"HCPB has built in 100% audit where each count is double-checked by someone else who has not been given a total in advance".

Now stop raining on my parade. :)
