Campbell is one of the architects of IWMD scam and the Iraqi war. In August 2003, when no WMD were found, Blair had to sacrifice Campbell to accomodate the critics of the war. Now, after 2005 elections, Blair is on the offensive, and Campbell is back in the public view.
Quite remarkably, Campbell objects "over-interpretation" of the news. Well, he knows exactly what he is doing - interpretation of the news about him is the last thing he may want.
1. GU. Owen Gibson. Campbell attacks opinion creep in broadcast news:
http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,14173,1655962,00.html"Television news has become so interpreted, so mediated, that the stories get lost," he told the Guardian. "The correspondents get far more space than any of the people involved in the story."
Using the BBC's economics correspondent, Evan Davis, as an example, he said correspondents were too often encouraged to give their own opinion and interpretation of events. News providers have argued that the use of specialist correspondents helps to explain the issues behind the story better to viewers.
