July issue of "O"--special report about mountaintop removal and . . .
. . . some of the amazing women who are fighting it.

Received the following email yesterday:

"The July issue of "O--that's Oprah Winfrey's magazine (on the newsstand now!)--features a special report about mountaintop removal and some of the amazing women who are fighting it. The article particularly focuses on Patty Sebok, Maria Gunnoe, Judy Bonds, & Delorice Bragg.

"Pick up a copy, AND PLEASE TAKE ACTION (see below)!

"Now's the time to encourage Oprah's crew to bring these brave women on her show and expose MTR to her vast national audience.

"Please go to:
http://www.oprah.com/email/email_landing.jhtml

"From that page, you can email suggestions for topics for the Oprah Winfrey show, email O magazine, or email Oprah herself. (or all three)

"My message will say something like this:
'I was moved by the article in the July issue of O magazine about mountaintop removal coal mining in WV. I want to learn more. Please have the women you interviewed on the Oprah Winfrey show ASAP. Please post information about what I can do to end mountaintop removal on your website. Thank you for opening my eyes about this important issue.'

"Please do this!"

(e-mail came from Ohio and was sent by devin)

1. Thanks for posting
this. I picked up a copy yesterday. I also emailed the show. Lots of good press lately. Vanity Fair, O, and National Geographic.

2. I read the National Geographic article, wally
I subscribe to the magazine, so I got a hard copy. The article was in the March 2006 issue. I live in Boone County, where just about all the photos were taken.

3. There's lots more to be seen
at www.crmw.net and www.ohvec.org

These really are the Ground Zero first responders to the national shame that is Mountain Range Removal. They work tirelessly and with dedication and passion that stands as an example to anyone who's ever trod the "activist" road.

We also talk about the issue quite frequently on "Head-On." www.headonradionetwork.com
