Seattle Police looking for men who attacked soldiers
This happened 7/31 - I heard a caller to Hannity's show make it sound like happened last night.

Seattle Police looking for men who attacked soldiers

12:08 PM PDT on Thursday, August 25, 2005

By RAY LANE / KING 5 News

SEATTLE - Seattle investigators are looking for a group of men who attacked two soldiers outside a nightclub in Pioneer Square last month.

Seattle Police are asking the public for help identifying three suspects involved in a beating in Pioneer Square late last month.
Police say since the graphic home video of the attack was released Wednesday, they've been getting plenty of calls about the potential suspects, though no arrests have been made.

The video is difficult to watch. Two young men, both of them said to be soldiers just back from the war zone in Iraq, are beaten to the ground. One of them is stomped on the head.

Seattle Police say it happened on July 31 outside Larry's Nightclub on First Avenue South around 2:30 in the morning.

Police say one of the suspects apparently groped two women who were waiting in line. The husband of one of the women stepped in and an argument erupted.

That group decided to not to go to the club and was walking away when one of the women grabbed a hot dog and threw it at the man who had grabbed her.

"Police say the victims were with two women who'd been groped by the suspects. One of the women threw a hot dog at the suspects and walked away.

This isn't to say they deserved it. It's to say, you do stupid stuff like force something onto a woman without permission, there are ramifications.

Here's to their recovery....

.... and learning a lesson.

4. What are you talking about?
Here, read this:

"Police say the victims were with two women who'd been groped by the suspects. One of the women threw a hot dog at the suspects and walked away.

They didn't get very far. The three suspects ran after them and began attacking the two men -- two soldiers who'd come home from the war."

11. Uh, the victims WERE NOT the gropers.
The victims were the good guys here. There is no lesson for them to learn.

2. No doubt hannity can spin that into
liberals hating our soldiers story. Sure sounds like it to me. Assault with a deadly dog leads to counterassault then asswhipping. Who is at fault? Just ask sean.

the assholes who did this had no clue that these men were vets. hannity can spin it, but when they catch these guys, they'll barely even know there's a war on.

fights erupt regularly outside these clubs. young patrons, early 20's. pioneer square is a alcohol + testosterone shithole at 2:30 in the morning.

5. Downtown Seattle is getting more dangerous
I wouldn't go down to Pioneer Square at night right now. It's not like it was even five years ago.

BTW, the whole area was teeming with military personnel last month because of Seafair, so I'm not sure if these two men being soldiers is the least bit relevant to this story.

8. wasn't the Mardi Gras incident 5 years ago?
you have a very odd definition of "more dangerous". i think its exactly as dangerous as it has been for 20 years.

9. No, it just feels different at night now.
More homeless people, more closed businesses, fewer people. I don't have statistics at hand, but it seems that there has been an upswing in incidents the last couple of years.

12. Why did it take almost a month for the police to release this info?
Wouldn't this have been much more helpful right after the attacks? I hope they do catch these guys.

13. Has anybody seen the videos? Are they out?
I'm curious if there's anything in the look of the suspects that suggests that it might be significant that they attacked soldiers. Black bloc? Muslims?
