Is Rick Perry afraid to debate?
San Antonio Express News Editorial 6/11/10
Is Rick Perry afraid to debate?

(snip)
Now the returns are public. And guess who’s got a problem with accountability? Perry.

As Peggy Fikac reported from the Hearst Austin Bureau, the governor is still refusing to discuss the debates. His campaign is calling on White to release even more tax returns covering his time as deputy energy secretary in the Clinton administration in the early 1990s and during his tenure as chairman of the Texas Democratic Party.

This is nothing but a delaying tactic, and not a very transparent one at that. White has made public his tax returns during his entire life in elected public office. The time for Perry’s posturing is over.

In explaining his recent lethal encounter with a coyote, Perry has acknowledged he has a fear of snakes. That’s perfectly understandable, even if his practice of jogging with a laser-sighted sidearm isn’t.

Debates, however, come with the territory of higher office. Unless Perry is also afraid of facing White in a public forum, his campaign needs to drop the contrived demands and get down to negotiating details of the debates everyone knows are going to happen.

 Come on your chickenshit Perry, grow a spine and get ready to rumble!

2. I was out jogging a few weeks ago at two AM, and a coyote started stalking me.
At one point I turned around and he was about twenty feet behind me. I stomped my foot and yelled "Git!" and he ran away.

Brave Rick Perry, shooting a big puppy because it skeered him. (assuming it really happened--not an assumption I make).

5. I don't believe the coyote story either
Way too fake. Perry is just blowing hot air like he usually does.

4. That Butt-munch keeps changing the goal posts...
well, he's gonna have to debate sooner or later. We'll probably get only one debate, but by the time White finishes airing SR's dirty laundry, hopefully that one will be enough. Wish we could get more, especially close to election day, so that the debate can be fresh on everyone's minds.

6. Of course, Perry is Afraid to debate White! Even more so now
after that extremely Right Wing GOP convention that is gonna lose them even more minority votes which Perry is gonna desperately need. All White has to do is keep asking if he agrees with his party platform point by point! What fun that would be!

8. I hope so
Our main problem is that the Texas lame stream press never holds Perry accountable for anything. Oh they'll write an occasional bad story about him, but when it comes to asking him any "tough questions" they always let him slide. It's like their too afraid of losing any contact with Perry's office.

It would be fun if they acted like real reporters.

We'll just have to wait to see what kind of softball questions they ask Perry at the debate.

:hi:

9. Well, don't forget the press/media is mostly conservative...

10. I know what you mean
Not just Dallas - every urban newspaper is controlled by conservative media. The only reporters who actually do any investigative reporting are the Texas Observer staff and they don't have the same sized audience that the majors have.

We don't have a system of checks and balances where the media is unbiased in Texas. We hardly have one in the country but for sure it's a big problem in Texas.

Me pagaron mucho dinero para estar en esta comercial. (translation - I was paid to be in this commercial)

Oh they do show that Diana Costa who really doesn't like the anti-immigrant Republican platform (from one of the news stories above) but she's willing to overlook the hate of her people, by the repukes.

Actually the Costa appearance was in the thread about the anti-immigration GOP platform. So many "GOP hates Mexican" threads to keep track of.

Just saying:

13. "Where oh where is Governor good hair?"
Why is he skeert? You know why. He needs a brain to debate and he comes up short in that department.

By the way, one poster at BOR had a great idea for a commercial involving two chicken suits arguing Miller Lite style: :

Chicken suit 1: Skeert to debate!
Chicken suit 2: Skeert of snakes!
Chicken suit 1: Skeert to debate!
Chicken suit 2: Skeert of snakes!
