The Private CIA
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5741363.html

This is nothing more than a private CIA and the members of the "agency" make their client records available to the Department of Homeland Security which of course means the Department of Homeland Security doesn't need to bother with court orders. Most of the members apparently are in the internet, communications, and security industries and so have access to quite a bit of information. Which they make available because of course they are patriots doing their duty.

Welcome to the McCarthy era. Part II.

2. Holy crap - that's pretty amazing story
PD high-speed chase ends in death, deeper mystery
Killed man known to his friends as a federal intelligence officer

Mystery continues to envelop a man shot and killed by Houston police Tuesday morning after a high-speed chase that ended near the Galleria.

The victim was identified by friends as Roland Vincent Carnaby, 52, of Houston. But who he really was — or more precisely, what he was — is something police are still trying to piece together.

Carnaby held himself out as a federal intelligence agent but was sometimes cagey about his precise job and employer. At times he mentioned the Central Intelligence Agency or the Department of Homeland Security. He was the president of the local chapter of the Association for Intelligence Officers, a legitimate national organization whose board contains luminaries such as former President George H.W. Bush. Friends said they have seen him in the company socially of local law enforcement officials and high-level CIA bureaucrats.

The CIA told KHOU that Carnaby was not an employee of the intelligence agency.

Yea, like the CIA would ever admit anyone worked for them after they were killed. Plausible denial. :wow:

3. And more questions....
"The man Houston police fatally shot after an hourlong chase Tuesday had shown a card identifying him as a CIA employee to officers who stopped him earlier for speeding, authorities said Wednesday."

""He (the officer) did not know what federal credentials looked like," said Capt. Steve Jett, with Houston Police Department's homicide division. "They look authentic, but you can do a lot of things with a computer.""

Well are they or aren't they authentic? Lots of questions. No answers. But anything with the Bushes and the CIA usually doesn't provide answers.

"I didn't recall his name or realize who he was until I saw his photo" on the news, Hurtt said.

So did he slip when he said this and does know him despite saying he didn't?

This organization really should be looked at by the ACLU. There have been some posts on General Discussion previously about it. I don't think anyone thought about it. It really is sort of a private CIA composed of snitches. And apparently some undercover agents who end up dead at the hands of the Keystone Cops aka HPD.

What's so odd is that he drove off. What was he afraid of?
