Online phonebanking for Ciro is live!
I'm crossposting this for Mario to help get the word out. Anyone and I mean anyone who wants to help around the state can get involved. Use your free minutes on your cell phone if that's cheaper. You can even use Skype http://skype.com if you want to make the calls using Internet service.

Hello, I am calling to help Texans elect another Democrat to Congress..."

TrueBlueAction.com announces http://ciro.onlinephonebanking.com is up and running!

OnlinePhoneBanking the most efficient and effective way for folks anywhere in the state (or country) to help Democrat Ciro Rodriguez defeat Republican Henry Bonilla. The netroots worked hard for Ciro last time, and with this new tool, we can turn netroots passion into grassroots action!

Make simple calls to voters in any precinct in TX-23 to identify Democrats for GOTV, from the comfort of your home, right now, using OnlinePhoneBanking's tools. Choose any precinct, and if you want, choose any demographic in that precinct - women, men, seniors, youth, anyone, and more. TrueBlueAction provides tools, scripts and data, you provide the volunteer effort and the data that helps Democrats!

1. A few pointers
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 06:00 PM by sonias
I just made my first few calls. I encourage everyone who wants to help to go ahead and sign in. You don't have to call immediately. You actually go through a script. Make sure you feel comfortable saying the script or change it to something more natural to your speaking voice. I would recommend that you print it rather than just read it online.

Remember that you are calling Democratic households and it is very important to really get our votes out. Be polite, but be persuasive about the importance of the election. Do use your name when you say "Hi I'm calling". Do it even if you get a machine. Leave a full message about early voting because they will not get a call back from True Blue Action.

Now lets get to work getting Ciro elected. Every little bit helps. No calling after 8:30 p.m. You can call during the day too. We usually wait until 10:00 a.m. to get started.

2. I'm going to do it.
I'm still traumatized from when Dell tried to eliminate me "through attrition" by making me go to phone support and take Rent A Center calls! Windows 95 for an NT/2000 person it was an experience which gave a person a real aversion to the phone. But to get rid of Henry, I'll do it! Five years has been enough time to heal, I guess.

3. Good for you acmejack
Do it for Henry!

Trust me these calls aren't that bad. Fifty percent or more will be machines so just practice leaving a good message.

The important things are to get the early voting dates and the election date right. Persuade them to early vote because there are usually no lines. Emphasize that Ciro is the Democrat and Henry is the republican.

Early voting begins on Monday December 4th and continues through Friday, Dec 8th.

Election day is Tuesday, December 12th.

I'm doing calls to Bexar right now.

7. Absolutely
I feel we have got to pick up TX-23. Everyone across the country can help. It's another kick in the ass to Tom DeLay when we do pick this seat up. And we love kicking that bastard's ass every time we can.

If it wasn't for that corrupt bastard, Texas would never have lost the clout we have.

Plus of course Henry Bonilla is also a totally warped republican like only Texas can produce.

Ciro vs Henry - The answer is clearly Ciro
