Baptist minister charged with indecent exposure
Source: The Advocate

The minister of a Baptist church has been charged with indecent exposure and driving under the influence, and police officers in Johnson City, Tenn., say he propositioned them.

Tommy Tester, 58, of Bristol, Va., was wearing a skirt when he was arrested last week after allegedly urinating in front of children at a car wash, police said.

Police also said Tester offered to perform oral sex on officers who were sent to the scene.

Authorities identified Tester as the minister of Gospel Baptist Church in Bristol and an employee of Christian radio station WZAP-AM in Bristol.

3. Thy rod and thy staff
should be kept in thy trousers.

And, as always, the INSINCERE expressions of sympathy from the rest of the Holy Roller Crew:

WZAP issued a statement Monday asking for prayers and saying Tester had been suspended during an investigation. ''We pray this potential profit-depressing, clusterfuck of a matter can be quickly swept under the rug, ignored, forgotten, so it doesn't impact our bottom LINE!!!! resolved,'' WZAP owner Al Morris said in the statement.

Liberals offer blowjobs to flight attendants or wait staff - not cops ;)

6. A quick search engine comparison
"atheist arrested" returned 79K hits. I scanned the first few pages and found about half or a bit more that contained both words but did not mean an atheist was arrested, and a sizeable number of foreign stories.

"pastor arrested" (which of course does not included "minister arrested", "priest arrested" "rabbi arrested" "vicar arrested" etc) returned 480K hits. I scanned the first few pages and found precisely two listings that did not include an arrested pastor, and only one foreign story.

Now I know Christians outnumber atheists 12 to 1 but pastiors (and only that term) surely do not outnumber atheists six to one do they?

12. I suspect you are right
After all the position except for a very few at the very top pays lousy, but offers a position of authority and access to vulnerable people.

No doubt the majority of pastors are those who really feel they have a calling to share their faith, and enter the profession for altruistic reasons.

But it's silly to assume that it would not also attract some of the more deviant and devious by offering them such a position of implied integrity and emotional leverage over both children and adults.

20. Well-said.
Plus, I feel that a rigid belief system, and its organizations, attracts rigid people, who often are repressing some feelings they believe are undesirable. So, they try and hide the related behavior, and the whole thing snowballs into a big mess.

21. In that case, fishing expeditions into the secret lives of the most rigid
ought to yield higher than average results.

Not that I'm advocating any fishing expeditions, understand. I'm just saying that if a candidate were wishing to maybe expose some lies and hypocrisy about an opponent, looking for sexual deviance (and I mean *real* deviance - like the kind displayed by this guy who peed in front of little kids) in the backgrounds of the most rigid, the most self-righteous, the most holier-than-thou is likely to be hit pay dirt.

So who are some of the most rigid?

but I agree that Hunter, Brownback and Dobson spring to mind, as well as Richard Land and Al Mohler. All of those guys are quite rigid in their beliefs (e.g. something is always morally wrong ... yada ... yada).

28. Don't kid yourself thinking the pay is lousy. The pay is EXCELLENT!
In the South, the preachers at even small churches are paid very well. It's a shame-the-sheep form of blackmail. What better guilt trip than: "Would you deny the one who does God's work anything but the best?"

It is not uncommon for preachers at churches w/<100 members to make $75K-200K a year. Plus they have tax breaks & often free housing provided by the church. Those w/larger congregation make even more. The best con-game on the planet!

15. Well well, another sexual deviant hiding behind
the skirts of the Baptist ministry. This is giving the Baptist Church a real bad name. I am convinced that these sexual screwups go into the ministry as a cover and are not dedicated to ministerial responsibilities.

30. Slinking around in the shadows while cloaked in the garments of the Lord.
Everyday is like Halloween. They put on their costumes of legitimacy & try to blend in so no one will suspect their dirty little secrets. A bunch of fakes & liars.

Can hardly think of anything more despicable. :puke:

And THIS teacher is NOT a perv, thank you very much.
I do acknowledge they are out there, but boils down to placing ones self in the best place to satisfy your desires. Equally as despicable.

26. The issues which get the most attention
among fundies are gay marriage, abortion, and adultery. Their main emphasis seems to be on issues regarding sex, and reproduction. Actually doing the things that Jesus preached are somehow overlooked. Feed the hungry? Take care of the needy? No, these things don't matter. They are obsessed with thoughts of sex. Maybe they think that being a "moral", right-wing fundie will somehow protect them from their own secret desires.
