2. I know -- I saw your post in my othe thread when I got into
work this morning. :)

Wolverine said something about a Marriott near the mall, but I don't know if that's for sure yet. We both just decided to go. (Well, I guess I JUST decided now. Too good to pass up.)

3. I'm definitely up for it.
I don't know DC very well (despite having lived there for almost 2 years, but that was a while ago...) but I will be in town early (Jan 15) and am available to meetup, scout out a place, or anything else.

See you in DC!

Steph

4. Welcome to DU!
You will love meeting other DUers. Last time we went to the Hawk & Dove on Friday night. We had the downstairs room to ourselves. You could check that out. On Saturday night we went to RFDs near the MCI Center. It was fine, but a bit out of the way.

11. That was nutz
But I didn't make those flight arrangements. So this time, I made all the reservations and booked a non stop flight. :)

12. Good for you!
I made my flight reservations tonight -- good thing, too. The first flight I wanted to come home on looked booked on the seat diagram, even though Travelocity would have let me book it, so I took my second choice, which was a little earlier, and there were only four seats left on that one.

I also made our hotel reservations. Wolverine, babylonsister and I are at the Capitol Hill Suites, which is where I stayed in September 2005.

13. I'll be checking back here often.
:) I'm really looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can (again) when I'm down there. I'm arriving Friday afternoon, leaving Tuesday morning early. I had such a good time in September 2005 - I can't wait for this one. See you all soon.

We'll need someone from DC to designate a good spot for us to all meet up so we can walk in the march together again, in addition to finding a spot for Friday night and Saturday night.

Who has the DU sign? It would be great if we had that again to help keep us together.

15. Good idea...
Last time InTheFlow and I never did find the DU group on the day of the march so we just kind of struck out on our own. We did have a lot of fun hanging out with everybody Friday night though. Did I meet you that night? There were so many...

It's so hard to remember everyone's screen names and then their real names, too. I hope we meet this time!

You're certainly coming from a long way!

someone would check in from that area to guide us.

23. I may still be going, trying to rearrange my schedule
I have $100 worth of certificates for the Marriott so I may go down to DC although it would be nice to have a roomie to help share the costs.

Hawk & Dove is a great location to meet-up and the owners were definately of the liberal leaning orientation.

I'm not from DC but know the city pretty well if anyone has any questions about where to meet or stay

24. I think the Hawk & Dove would be great to do again
Can we just descend on them Friday night or do they need some warning? Do you have a suggestion on where to meet before the march? I think the march is organizing in front of the Capitol between 3rd and 7th streets. We need to pick a spot and hope Skinner shows up with the banner.

25. I'd PM both Skinner and Earlg to see who can get the banner
I'll take a look at the parade route. If I go, I might get a room at the JW Marriott. I love that hotel and I have that $100 coupon. If I stay there we can meet at the JW - it'll be right by the parade route.

28. I sent Skinner a PM yesterday
Haven't heard back from him yet.

Those who want to could also meet up for coffee beforehand like we did last time. Of course, it will be too cold to do the outdoor cafe table thing!

26. I think the H&D is a good idea also.
If we had an idea of numbers, someone could contact them to ask about reserving a spot for us.
This is their website:
http://www.hawkanddoveonline.com/parties.php

This is the page for private parties:
http://www.hawkanddoveonline.com/parties.php

I wouldn't mind doing the contact with H&D. Any ideas on how to get an approximate number of interested parties? Post in GD?

27. Updates for the protest (or where the heck should I go & stay)
I checked the UPJ website and they said that the protest would be organizing between 3rd & 7th street on the mall. That's still kinda vague like which side of the mall would people be meeting - who knows.

But if that's where they are organizing then the best location to find a hotel would be over in the Capital Hill area. The closest metro station is Federal Center SW but if it's like any other DC protest, that stop will be overwelmed so you might have to hike it some.

The Hawk & Dove was a great location, we just sorta descended upon the place and they gave us a room where we could have drinks. If someone wants to plan something there and contacts the H&D make sure you mention this was the same group that hosted a party there back at the Sept 2005 protest. We spent a ton of money there and way over-tipped the waitress. They might be willing to hold a room or table without charging if the group is oversized.

I'm still not sure if I'm going or not - I'd really like to be there but if I can't find a roommate it's gonna be tough to swing the cost of a hotel room. If someone needs a roomie please let me know. My only request is a non-smoking room

and I'll post a link to it in GD and the Lounge. That should cover most people.

30. Sounds good
Maybe we can talk after work about meeting locations and other stuff like that. I got to know that area pretty well and can probably come up with some meeting locations prior to the march.

I'm probably going to go if I can get the vacation days off but will probably stay at a Marriott to use the coupons that I have.

31. I probably won't be home until close to 8 tonight
I'm taking the afternoon off for a coffee at Gov. Granholm's residence with the blogger's caucus I'm part of, then the group is going to dinner. I'll have my cell with me and will probably be back in the car after 6:30 or so. If you don't still have my number, PM me.
