Can anyone tell me what the motivation of those Swift Boat assholes is???
these guys, who say they served honorably in Viet Nam, are absolutely disgracing themselves by lying to support a f***ing moron who WENT AWOL and abuses our military. WHAT is their motivation? It's gotta be more than blind GOP support, it's gotta be something else.

1. I think it boils down to them
being angry at Kerry for turning against the Vietnam War, basically.

34. Nail on the head
There are still some delusional people out there who think we could have won the Vietnam War (well I suppose we could have if we nuked 99% of the cuntry).

Somehow they think this belief justifies them lying about Kerry.

The Swift Liars are Republican Donors. Weymouth Symmes, Bob Perry, John O'Neill all have Republican links. The more we hammer this fact in, the closer this is to be completely debunked.

9. My only guess is that they're still pissed off...
... about Kerry's post-Vietnam activities. He came, he saw, he came home, he protested.

And they have yet to get over what has since become the most popular opinion, that the Vietnam War was horrific and unjust.

Sadly, they feel Kerry's statements clinked their armor, and they've been holding a rather personal grudge ever since. Much like the three (count 'em! three!) VFW convention delegates who stood and turned their back during Kerry's speech in Cincinnati today.

I don't know, and I don't claim to understand, because I'm a generation removed from theirs. But if I had to place a bet, I'd say it's a long-held personal grudge against Kerry for helping to expose Vietnam atrocities. The thought of him becoming PRESIDENT must burn their asses something fierce.

11. They want us to say Vietnam was a good war and being against it was wrong
It is payback to Kerry for his stands upon returning to the US. Vietnam divided the country, and they were on the losing side and Kerry on the majority, and they are looking to rewrite history.

They know Bush is a war evading moron, but Bush is never going to say that there was a war that shouldn't have been fought. They know Kerry is a combat vet, like them, but Kerry is never going to say that all wars including Vietnam were good ones. So they smear him, because that's all they have, as do most of our pubbie friends.

They blame Kerry for bringing the truth to the American people and blame him for the pullout. They cannot believe that the politicians blew it, just like they refuse to believe B$$$ has blown it in Iraq.

You know the $13,000 a year cocktail waitress Larry Flynt says aborted Dubya's illegitimate child. The one that suddenly took an international vacation during the 2000 election?

Well, a year later she was living in a half million dollar home.

21. Well...
When Kerry came back from the war he testified to Congress and spoke elsewhere about atrocities committed by American soldiers in Vietnam. He joined the anti-war protestors, some of whom were very harsh toward returning soldiers, and participated in demonstrations. Some of these guys considered that a betrayal of the brotherhood of soldiers and they hated him for it and have never stopped hating him since.

It was wrong for leftist demonstrators to treat soldiers returning from Vietnam badly. I think it had a lot to do with guilt as many of the protestors were college students who were exempt from the war through deferments, and most of the soldiers were lower-class men who had no way to legally escape the draft. Why any true leftist wouldn't have been protesting the fact that poor men were being sent to fight while the kids of the well-off had an out is beyond me, but that hypocrisy haunts the left to this day, and the right is still able to build political capital out of it among bitter veterans. For many of those veterans, Kerry lost their respect when he joined the protestors. The cause of the protestors might have been right, but their attacks on the returning vets were wrong, and we are now reaping what they sowed.

29. That's an interesting smear...
Kerry protested the Viet Nam war.

Some protesters attacked returning vets.

Therefore, what? I heard Kerry's famous anti-war speech. In no way did it attack veterans.

Here it is:

22. Because
It's hard to admit that what you thought was the right thing was all based on a lie. The North Vietnamese didn't start the war, the US did.

The Gulf of Tonkin incident was a lie, so 58,000 Americans and millions of Vietnamese died in vain. There was a tape that played recently where LBJ made statements to the affect that the US was conducting covert operations in the North, the question is why was
the US trying to start a war.

Mainly because of its anti-Communist stance.

The Swift Boat assholes, along with millions of other American service men and women had no good reason for being in Vietnam, and
I think it's hard for these particular idiots to deal with it.

That and they're probably getting paid under the table so to speak.

being a hero and coming back against the war and WORSE was exposing the atrocities that went on over there. Those swiftboats liars want to deny the horrible things that went on over there which some of them probably either took part in or looked the other way when they saw it happening. They don't like being exposed and not being able to deny the truth even to themselves. Having a mirror placed in front of your face is not a pleasant thing so they are blaming the holder of the mirror.

You're a bored, retired 50 or 60-something, with a stagnant life....

You have a grouchy menopausal wife who tends to nag at you sometimes
You have a couple of surly teenagers and a 20-something or two who only call or visit when they need money or to borrow your car..
You get kind of tired of watching tv and maybe working that piddly part-time job..

THEN ONE DAY...

You get a call from someone connected to the Bush campaign..
You are "invited" to spend a few months on a "Magical Mystery Tour" with your old war buddies..
You will have an expense account..
You will get to go on TV
You will be part of a BOOK tour...a book about YOU and your buddies
You will be wined and dined and get to meet the president..
You will be "well compensated" for your "loss of wages" while you are on your reunion road trip with your buddies

So.... what do you have to do in order to participate in this adventure??

It's all so simple.. All you have to do is trash someone you don't even know..

Of course you know who he IS, but he's a "spoiled rich guy", who parlayed his wartime experience and recognition into a career as a senator and now as candidate for president.

You don't mind trashing a guy like him, because in the end, YOUR guy will end up winning, and who knows?..You might even get an invitation to the White House..

Jealousy....Envy....Greed....Boredom....

Those are the most likely "motives" for the "Not-So-Swiftboat-Vets".
