Obama and Biden Campaigns on Webb's Letter
"Thirty senators sent a letter to the White House on Thursday warning President Bush not to take offensive military action against Iran without the consent of Congress...
According to its authors, the letter was designed to clarify the ambiguity of the recent Kyl-Lieberman amendment designating Iran's Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization."

Obama's campaign just responded that the letter, led by Sen. Jim Webb, is not enough top deal with the situation.

"Senator Obama admires Senator Webb and his sincere and tireless efforts on this issue," the campaign said in a statement. "But it will take more than a letter to prevent this administration from using the language contained within the Kyl-Lieberman resolution to justify military action in Iran. This requires a legislative answer and Senator Obama intends to propose one."

Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt also said the Illinois Democrat on Thursday introduced a binding resolution that would "nullify the vote the Senate took to give the president the benefit of the doubt on Iran."

"Sen. Biden voted against the amendment urging the designation of the Iranian Rev. Guard as a terrorist group. He strongly opposed it because he believed it could be used by this President to justify military action against Iran. He has also made clear many times his view that the President lacks the authority to use force against Iran absent authorization from Congress. He didn't need to clarify that position - he's been clear from the start," said Biden spokesperson Elizabeth Alexander.

1. These two seem to be a little brighter than the rest, frankly.

2. Its nice to see candidates that stand for principal instead of focus groups and polls...
and which ever way the wind may be blowing at the moment.

6. Obama and Biden both strike me more as leaders who make up
their own minds, rather than "me too" followers.

8. Its nice to see candidates that stand up for vote pandering
instead of principal.

Obama supported designating the Quds force as terrorists for economic sanction. Check his record.

10. Obama didn't sign on to the letter as per usual he wanted to wait
to make sure that warning against the war was the popular thing to do before he stuck his neck out.

13. Obama and Biden have this nailed precisely.

In spite of the fact that supporters of Hillary continue to try to mitigate her vote with all kinds of subterfuge, the fact remains she is the ONLY Democratic candidate to actually vote YES on Kyl-Lieberman. That is a distinction that truly sets her apart, and not in a good way.

I hope Webb, Obama, and Biden will continue to lead the way in undoing it.

14. WAIT A MINUTE -- What's this?

Has this been posted elsewhere? This is really commendable!

15. Bush doesn't read, remember. lol. Seriously, Hagel sent a letter
a month ago and never got an answer. it was urging the administration to use aggressive diplomacy.
He will just ignore this one as well.
Bush wants to bomb iran as Uncle Dick said it would make him crack a smile.
