HuffPost: Dems Planning Legal Action Against 2 GOP Reps.
The Huffington Post has learned that Democrats are planning legal action against two Republican members of the House, House Resources Chairman Richard Pombo (R-Calif.) and House Administration Committee Chairman Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio).

Representative Ney, who has close ties to scandal-ridden lobbyist Jack Abramoff, helped Israeli wireless company Foxcom secure a contract to provide cellular service on Capitol Hill. As The Washington Post reported yesterday, the company was selected through a potentially rigged process.

The Hill reported that Representative Pombo “may have violated tax laws by accepting international trips paid for by a private foundation.”

Another day, another hit. Two more pillagers that may be silenced, finally!

4. We all know about Ney
But Pombo, if he had his way, would develop every national park in the country, eliminate the endangered species list and God know what else. Hope this turns into something.

9. More on Ney...
First he does this...

Rep. Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) placed comments in the Congressional Record favorable to Abramoff's 2000 purchase of the casino boat company, SunCruz Casinos. Two years later, Ney sponsored legislation to reopen a casino for a Texas Indian tribe that Abramoff represented.

And then, of course, fakes outrage

"I am absolutely outraged by the dishonest and duplicitous words and actions of Jack Abramoff," Ney said last year when Abramoff's statements about Ney first came up in e-mails released by the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. "As the testimony at both committee hearings has revealed, Jack Abramoff repeatedly lied to advance his own financial interests."

Abramoff, whose attorneys declined to comment for this article, has publicly denied that he misled Ney.

This ought to get interesting.

7. More info from The Hill (Pombo)

House Resources Chairman Richard Pombo (R-Calif.) may have violated tax laws by accepting international trips paid for by a private foundation, according to a report out yesterday.

The Center for Public Integrity, which co-wrote the report with American Public Media’s “Marketplace” radio news show, alleges that the International Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources (IFCNR) funded trips to New Zealand and Japan in 2000 and 2002, respectively.

The trips cost a total of $23,000. Pombo’s wife accompanied the congressman on the first trip; a staff member went along on the second.

The IFCNR is apparently funded in part by donations from Darden Restaurants, the parent of the Red Lobster and Olive Garden chains. The Foundation also has received money from the National Trappers Association and the International Fur Trade Association.

Pombo’s Resources Committee has partial jurisdiction over federal environmental policy such as the Endangered Species Act, which Pombo and others have sought this year to rewrite. Environmental groups have argued that the changes would gut protections.

18. If Pombo goes down...I'll sing and dance for days!
That fuckhead deserves to be in jail, at least for the crimes he has committed against our natural resources and humanity. He's a sick joke of a person, one who is nothing more than a jackal for crony capitalism.

19. This is cross-posted in the CA forum as well
I have asked for anyone from his district to get us info on his next election and who is running against him.
That is one campaign I'd love to contribute to!
