Bush brings in an Iraqi ringer (again)
by Sharon Jumper
Mon Aug 15th, 2005 at 19:13:53 PDT

I saw a few passing references to "May Hasan Lamotte" yesterday in the print media. She was portrayed as "an Iraqi woman who just had to drive to Crawford to tell Cindy Sheehan that her son died for a noble cause. One news report yesterday said: *"An Iraqi woman who moved recently to the United States, drove with her husband from Washington, D.C., to thank Sheehan for her sacrifice. But the woman, May Hasan Lamotte, 37, did not agree with Sheehan's call to pull the troops out of Iraq. I came after reading about Miss Cindy. They think their children are dead for nothing, and I am one who got freedom. I am grateful for her son and American soldiers. Everybody thinks (Casey) died for nothing. He gave his life as many other brave soldiers have to give me and my country freedom," she said.

This "Iraqi woman" then showed up on Hardball to swiftboat Cindy. Something about her didn't strike me as being right. There was a passing reference to her being married to an American journalist.

Military intelligence skills and google, don't fail me now, I thought. More on what I found on the flip....

1. When the Truth is getting out..
via Cindy Sheehan this time..it's all Dirty Hands on Deck..they come out from under rocks and slither out of the snake pits.

Someday there will be a way to, metaphorically, strike down the Garbage Heads.

2. Yes! I knew there was something suspicious about that woman
I saw her on the Hardball interview and was reminded of the fake Kuwaiti woman they trotted out to say the Iraqi's were ripping infants out of incubators and throwing them on the floor... this was all to incite outrage before the first Gulf War. Remember that? Turned out THAT gal was hired by the republican's PR agency, and it was all a big lie.

Good work on Dailykos who learned that today's Iraqi (anti-Cindy) spokeswoman is affiliated with Voice of America, which has NO business presenting us with any information. VOA is propaganda for consumption outside of the US.

Shame on Chris Matthews for interviewing this woman. Wow. They must be getting desperate. Makes me wonder about the other pro-Bush "mom" they had on.

4. Kirsten Dunst in "Wag the Dog"
Remember the faked footage of her "saving a baby"? Jeez!

I hope people are on Tweety like a bad suit in the rain to issue a mea culpa....

16. NAh--she was saving a kitten.
A fluffy white one, I believe--though in reality it was a bag of chips, and the white kitten was photoshopped in afterward.

6. She was the daughter of Kuwait's ambassador to the United States
You'd be surprised at how many people don't know the story.

When contemplating war, beware of babies in incubators

by Tom Regan | csmonitor.com

More than 10 years later, I can still recall my brother Sean's face. It was bright red. Furious. Not one given to fits of temper, Sean was in an uproar. He was a father, and he had just heard that Iraqi soldiers had taken scores of babies out of incubators in Kuwait City and left them to die. The Iraqis had shipped the incubators back to Baghdad. A pacifist by nature, my brother was not in a peaceful mood that day. "We've got to go and get Saddam Hussein. Now," he said passionately.

14. She lied about who she was
IIRC, she perjured herself in sworn congressional testimony on live televised hearings in front of the whole world,
claiming to be an Iraqi nurse, using a false name.
She wasn't prosecuted because she had diplomatic immunity.

5. That VOA exists at all is awful.
How much more of this do we need to endure?

I mean, this is an sly, backhanded slap (I sympathize with you while I do as I'm told - yeah, she's really free now) in the face of a MOTHER of a soldier who died defending Bush's oil.

Come on. Is he going to go piss on apple pie and throw out a cow pie instead of a baseball for the next season opener?

26. LaMotte is or was the Cairo bureau Cheif
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 03:30 AM by caligirl

June 25th, 2001

GREG'S HEADED TO EGYPT Former L.A.-based CNN Correspondent Greg LaMotte is headed for the Middle East. He''ll be the Cairo Bureau Chief for the Voice of America. LaMotte was caught up in CNN's recent wave of cutbacks.

Greg's brother died tragically in the Florida panhandle.
Larry LaMotte
ATLANTA (AP) — Larry LaMotte, one of CNN's first bureau chiefs and longtime
correspondent, died Sunday trying to rescue his 12-year-old son in the Florida
Panhandle. He was 60.
LaMotte was one of nine victims who drowned following a weekend of stormy
weather that churned the surf. He was on vacation at Grayton Beach with his
wife, Sandee LaMotte, and two of their children, when he drowned.
His son, Ryan, survived after other beachgoers rescued the boy from rough
waters.
LaMotte joined CNN in 1980, but left the network in July 1999. He was the cable
network's first bureau chief in Dallas and later worked in Los Angeles and
Washington, DC. LaMotte also was a national correspondent in Atlanta.
His documentaries won numerous awards, including the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia
University Silver Baton Award for one titled, "Iran in the Name of God."
After leaving CNN, LaMotte became a certified life coach and a volunteer with
WebMD. His brother, Greg LaMotte, also is a former CNN correspondent.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, a son, three sisters and a brother.

on Hardball.

I can't say for sure because I didn't see it, but the interview was discussed here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4359468

Don't know if Tweety allowed her on Hardball to be a propaganda conduit, or if he brought her on to debunk her.

They will throw whatever they have to distract attention from the real issue.

The Swift Boat liars essentially served thier purpose, so why wouldn't Bushco model its campaign to smear a grieving mother in a similar fashion?

Bush and his cronies are sick and craven individuals.
