My Senator is Michele Bachmann (lucky me) and she actually met constituents today... I sat next to her in the meeting and when it was my turn to speak, I introduced myself and extended my hand, as I always do. To anyone! I held my hand out for what seemed like eternity and I watched her hands rise from her lap as she turned them palm side up, looked at them, and put them back in her lap.

My hand still extended to force a response, she said, "my husband has pneumonia and I don't want to catch anything".

that the Nicholas Coleman listed above is NOT related to our weasel senator Norm. (He was the father of Nick Coleman, a columnist for the Star Tribune.) MN State Senator, Michelle Bachmann, who is being entertained as a possible U.S. Congressional Representative, attempted this week to force a vote on of the amendment to end domestic partnerships and ban civil unions and same-sex marriage. Pictures taken as she left the capitol building documented her hiding behind bushes in order to avoid face-to-face meetings with MN citizens who opposed her.

I am a heterosexual woman who believes it is a citizen's business what he or she does in intimate moments. I am stunned that the progressive state of Minnesota is entertaining the possible forwarding of a woman who would shame many Georgia rednecks. Hiding behind the (B)ushes is reflective of a ploy utilized commonly by the current administration in order to avoid 'facing the music' and the repercussions of one's actions. Looks to me like she seeks the spotlight except when the voters attempt to hold her accountable.

Today Minnesota Senator Michele Bachmann thought it would be fun to circumvent the Senate Committee process and force a floor vote of the amendment to end domestic partnerships, and ban civil unions and same-sex marriage while we were outside rallying for our rights. Even Senate Republicans thought it was in poor taste to try to go around Senate rules on the same day GLBT citizens were making their voice heard.

It's evident by recent threads on DU that Michele Bachmann is one of Minnesota's most reviled politicians. But much as we'd like to think they do, the vast majority of Minnesotans don't read liberal blogs and websites like DU. That's why people with opinions about Michele Bachmann need to sit down and pen a brief letter to the editor about her recent behavior--whether it's hiding in the bushes at a GLBT rally, railing about being shut out of a vote in the Senate, running screaming from a Scandia town hall meeting, imposing her flat-earth beliefs on teachers and college professors, whatever. Start educating the masses about this sorry excuse for a senator before she revs up her Rapture Republican base and gets elected to Congress.

Here are addresses to all the newspapers in Bachmann's Senate district. Letters also need to be sent to the St. Cloud Daily Times to start educating folks at that end of the 6th CD about her. Make no mistake, she will be a formidable candidate when every yahoo end-timer is pumping up the votes for her from the pulpit every Sunday. One only needs to look at the billboards that dot the 6th CD landscape to figure out there are plenty of them out there.
