Bush Lied in Debate About "meeting" w/ Cong. Black Caucus

On Capitol Hill, 18 black caucus members, plus Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., hopped on a bus and went to the White House. Their main demands to Secretary of State Colin Powell and Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, were that the United States call for a cease-fire in Haiti, create a humanitarian buffer zone in the capital, Port-au-Prince, and work to keep Haiti from slipping again into the clutches of a dictatorship.

The lawmakers asked for Bush, and Bush joined the meeting. They stressed the need for the humanitarian zone, and Bush said he would think about it.

Turns out the CBC had to pressure Bush into meeting w/ them.

Kerry was right- Bush never met with them in Congress- they had to drive to the WH and BEG him to come out.

According to Al Franken today- they were 1st told to go away by Powell & Rice-when the CBC refused to leave until Bush came out , Bush finally agreed to meet w/ them.

Pass this story around folks- Bush is lying again.

3. He was forced into meeting them

They were not going to leave until they met with him. Kerry I'm sure was aware of this and should have included this little footnote. Being forced to meet with someone once in four years..... oohh yeah leadership baby leadership!

4. Bush lied-he hid from the CBC until they forced him to come out.

He lied last night and tried to make people think that he gladly met w/ the CBC- if that was not dishonest, I dont know what is.

Bush refused to meet with the CBC, and only met with them after they arrived at his door and refused to leave.

According to Al Franken, they were even told by Rice & Powell that Bush was not on the premises-when they refused to leave, he finially came out of hiding in order to avoid bad press.

Lets not let Bush get away w/ another lie- the truth about this story needs to be known.

6. I knew it, but I think it was ABC fact check said he they had met.

Tricky thing about where and how.Kerry said Bush would not meet with them, right? Is it a technical thing then.What about the private sector job lose thing? I wish there weren't so many spins .It's hard to see the truth for most people. Luckily I rely on what I've seen happen the last few years . What a mess. What lairs.I agree integrity is paramount. The media needs to point out that he did not meet w/ the CBC out of the goodness of his heart, like he suggested last night.
