Notice Bush never eludes to which plane he saw crash or which tower he saw got hit in his first speech (other than saying Card came in and told him a 2nd plane crashed) and then
notice what he says after he saw this highly unusual crash:
"But I was whisked off there, I didn't have much time to think about it."Remarks by the President in Town Hall Meeting
Orlando, Florida
(For Immediate Release, Office of the Press Secretary, December 4, 2001)
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/12/20011204-17.htmlTHE PRESIDENT: Thank you, Jordan. Well, Jordan, you're not going to believe what state I was in when I heard about the terrorist attack. I was in Florida. And my Chief of Staff, Andy Card -- actually, I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works.
I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on. And I used to fly, myself, and I said, well, there's one terrible pilot. I said, it must have been a horrible accident.
But I was whisked off there, I didn't have much time to think about it. And I was sitting in the classroom, and Andy Card, my Chief of Staff, who is sitting over here, walked in and said, "A second plane has hit the tower, America is under attack."
Let's just say it was the 1st plane crash Bush saw inside the school. Do you really believe the President of the United States was whisked off after this
highly unusual crash so fast that he didn't even have time to think about it? Do you really believe they would have our Commander in Chief go ahead with some stupid non-important 2nd grade class reading without postponing it for at least as long as it takes to see if this
highly unusual crash was really just an accident or not? I know 2nd graders can get restless and fussy if they have to wait a bit, but
come on?
It's only in his second speech that Bush mentions seeing the crash live where he mentions which crash he was referring to and could have mentioned which one he saw to try to cover his slip of mentioning he saw one of the planes crash live on TV at the school:
Remarks by the President in Town Hall Meeting with Citizens of Ontario
Ontario, California
(For Immediate Release, Office of the Press Secretary, January 5, 2002)
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/01/20020105-3.htmlTHE PRESIDENT: Yes. Well, I was sitting in a schoolhouse in Florida.
Anyway, I was sitting there, and my Chief of Staff -- well, first of all, when we walked into the classroom,
I had seen this plane fly into the first building. There was a TV set on. And you know, I thought it was pilot error and I was amazed that anybody could make such a terrible mistake. And something was wrong with the plane, or -- anyway,
I'm sitting there, listening to the briefing*, and Andy Card came and said, "America is under attack."
Anyway, it was an interesting day.**
*Were the 2nd graders giving Bush a "briefing"?
**An "interesting day"???
The
only crash Bush could have seen live on a TV at that school
was the 2nd crash which
was caught live on TV when he was in the school.
The first crash happened at 8:46 am and was not caught live on TV and for those who said he had a secret live feed of the 1st crash at the school (which would prove a conspiracy), it could not have been in the school because
Bush didn't arrive at the school until the earliest reports of 8:52 am.
"8:46:40 - AA 11 crashes into 1 WTC (North Tower)" - 9/11 Commission
"At 8:52 a.m. ET, ABCNEWS' Good Morning America broke in with a special report showing flames coming out of the World Trade Center. At the time, President Bush's motorcade was arriving at the Emma Booker Elementary School in Sarasota, Fla., for a planned event..." -ABC (9/14/01)
Now if you think Bush couldn't have seen the 2nd crash live on TV inside his holding room because he was already inside the classroom reading event, check this scenario out:
9:03 am - Second plane crashes into the WTC.
+
60 seconds for Bush to be "whisked off" out of his holding room and into the classroom.
=
9:04 am
+
3 minutes from when Bush enters the classroom until Cards whispers in his ear. (based on video)
=
9:07 am - The time some media reports have Card whispering in Bush's ear: "'A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack.'
White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card leaned over and whispered these words into President Bush's right ear at
9:07 a.m. September 11." -Washington Times (10/08/02)
"I said, 'A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack.'
'The president's eyes got wide … and the face told it all,' Compton said, noting that 'something terribly grave. … Something beyond imagining' happened around
9:07 a.m. ET, according to her notes." -ABC (9/14/01)Text
(It was mostly reported that Bush was told at 9:05 am, but this time could easily be explained as just rounding the time down to the more popular 5 minute interval.)
Is it impossible to believe that they just told us Bush went into the classroom moments before the 2nd crash, but if fact that he was "whisked off" into the classroom a minute or less AFTER the 2nd crash?See
my page about this for further details.
