***Early July MFM Status reports***
Just found out: he had to have another fucking surgery! BUT, it was to remove a clot in the muscle they moved to fix his chest. It wasn't his heart or anything like that. Nurse said his vitals were all "perfect" so while this is yet another set-back it seems kind of minor compared to a couple of the others. And it sure explains the swelling and pain he was having on one side.

I don't know about you guys, but I am so fucking relieved I am going to chug a beer and go to bed!

:toast:  :woohoo: :applause: :bounce: :applause: :woohoo: :bounce:

26. ***Tuesday "morning" update***
After waiting most of the morning, I FINALLY talked to the nurse - he is doing good, resting. I probably could have talked to him but they were topping him off. (giving some blood as he was a little low)

She said she would help him dial to call me back this afternoon. I told her to monitor his humor - that was really the best way to tell how he was doing. And to offer tag team sponge baths. (I really did tell her that)

She said depending (as usual) on what the Docs say, he could be back out of there in a day or two. WHEW!

Couldn't you just SEE him if a good-looking nurse with a big smile on her face walked up to him & started singing!
She wouldn't even have to carry a tune to get a big smile from him. :)

47. I sent a "Gorilla-Gram" once...
...it was for someone's birthday, at a company I worked for.

The only problem was that the person who came out in the gorilla suit just wasn't into it at all, and as a result, my co-workers hated me for months to come. I was never allowed to coordinate another birthday surprise after that.

I could FEEL their steely gazes PIERCING MY FLESH as they thought "Your gorilla SUCKED."

Come to think of it, I remember a couple of people actually saying "Your gorilla sucked."

So whether it's a cute nurse or a gorilla, hire someone ready to push the envelope, or don;t hire anyone at all...I guess.

:-)

52.  I was on a street car on Market Street in San Francisco
in the early seventies, and looked out the window to see a gorilla standing on the curb playing a trumpet. I burst out laughing and hoped others would notice him and laugh but, alas, they seemed to be encased in their own morose bubbles.

I agree, if you don't have your heart in a performance it will automatically be bad. If you throw yourself into it, it has a chance of being great.

54. ***Thursday BACK TO REHAB!!! update***
MFM called me (good sign he was up to doing that) a couple hours ago - said they were getting ready to ship him out again. He thinks it is a little too soon (again) but he sure sounded good to me.

He could be back on line by tomorrow evening! He misses everybody and he wanted to make sure you understand if he can't jump back posting completely normal yet - he just feels weak and tired. I said well NO SHIT, look what you have been through!

I had an idea if anybody with good search skills and some extra time wanted to do something for him. I was thinking of compiling all the posts that were about him and for him into easy to click links in one place. Either in a thread, or PMed to him (or me?). Anybody up for that? I might if I have some time tomorrow (and I might now that I probably won't try to go see him until Sunday)

so, lets hope this latest UMC visit takes and he can finally get on with the rehab and get the hell out of hospitals soon!

oh PS - to the person who sent him the flowers this week - they got there and he was touched - says you are a very sweet person (and I agree)

Which reminds me - because he has had so many ups and downs, I am not sure at all what he has seen or received in terms of e-mails, cards, etc. Please know that every single thing sent, posted here at DU, prayed, vibed, thoughts - he is so grateful for every one of you. (me too)
