1. I don't have ear problems, so I went with nostrils instead.
:P

2. Years ago left ear was clogged for a couple of days
ENT doc peered into ear with huge ceiling-mounted otoscope. Dx- fungal infection. Tx- Doc poured gentian violet into a little plastic medicine cup and then poured it into my ear canal. One application did the trick.

Now I have an itchy ear canal and after looking around on internet decided I'm going to order pet ear medicine for my ear-

3. hey, thanks for the links...
my left ear canal is crooked and fluid pools up in there and the ENT doc sucks it out with some kind of instrument. it is loud and makes my throat tickle when he does it. fucking irritating when it does that.

5. This is so strange. Just hours ago I was searching DU for any posts about
itchy ears. Not that much info anywhere about itchy ear canals. Now lo and behold I read your post.

I would hesitate using animal medication in my ears without first trying some human remedies. My doc who found my complaint rather odd suggested Buro-sol which is for swimmers ear and itching; it has alleviated the itch but hasn't got rid of it. However, she told me last week to stop using it for awhile at least because one of my eardrums has scales on it (but not the other so I don't know what gives there).

I have for the last few days used an ear syringe filled with warm water, directing the water up into my ear as opposed to squirting the water directly into the ear. This has helped but the itchiness comes back.

This is the wierdest thing as it came out of nowhere and it really is aggravating.

10. I have itchy ear canals and my doctor recommended using a cortisone cream in there (carefully!) I
use Aveeno with cortisone. It works, but I have to use it all the time, and sometimes I seem to have flare-ups but I don't know why.

6. Thanks for the links. I noticed a lot of people at medhelp had wet ears
as well as itching, I only have itching. I may print that thread out and take it to my next appt as my doc seemed to find my symptom rather unusal.

9.  My ear only gets wet if I scratch it
(with my elbow, of course ;) )
I think it's seeping plasma, like when a knee is scraped. I 've used hydrogen peroxide mixed with water-used straight it fizzes like crazy but sometimes seems too strong & stings for a few minutes. The itch only goes away for a couple of days.
It seems that the enzyme stuff has been used successfully by people, on themselves and their pets, who have tried all kinds of doctor-prescribed treatments that didn't work.

7. A couple of years ago my left ear kept clogging up
And I had trouble getting water to drain after showers. Then I started getting ear aches. It turned out I needed a root canal on a molar on that side of my mouth. Within 24 hours of getting the root canal, the ear aches stopped and since then the clogging and drainage problems have gone away.

8. Right
There just seems to be more shit flying at me from the right wing than the left.

But seriously, my doc turned me on to an OTC ear syringe. It comes with some ear drops that loosens the wax and then you gently flush it out with the syringe.
