Okay, a very, very important topic: The mystery of Icicle lights...
Will someone pleas explain to me, the mystery of icicle Christmas light strands?!?!

One light will go out and knock out the whole strand or a section of the strand or just string. Then a light will be out, but the rest of the strand will be out until you pull out the burnt out bulb and then it will all go out until you replace the bulb.

Then, some strands have a bulb with a larger socket than the other bulbs.

Can someone explain to me, the mystery of these lights!?!?

Thank you...

1. They're fugly.
When I'm dictator, possessing them will be one of the few things that qualify a person for the death penalty. And none of this namby pamby lethal injection bullshit either, it'll be slow and painful.

2. They are wired in series.
That means that each light is part of the total electrical circuit for the whole string, so if one bulb is burned out the circuit can't be completed and the whole string is out.

3. but...
why is it that some stay lit sometimes and others take the whole strand or section out?

more importantly, just how do you find that one single bulb that is doing all the damage - and I don't mean the one that is broken or obviously burnt out....

11. Ocelot, you are so kind...
Thank you so much.

While in our current trouble times, this is just a small problem, it is still a frustrating one.

Thanks again...

8. Some people try to fix them...
but it's so exasperating, all the other decorations are in danger of being shredded and thrown into the bonfire of rage. At least, at my house.

The dang things are evil. We need to find an alternative to clogging landfills with them when a bulb burns out!!
