Here's a photo from our hike yesterday. I look like a moran because I was whimpering about copperheads.

I used to live in Virginia--I miss the Shenandoah. :)

2. It's actually a lake

The Shenandoah and the James are both beautiful rivers, aren't they?

9. I've never seen the James up close, but

I spent 8 years living in Rockingham County, and the Shenandoah became my second favorite river in the world. There's a little park in a town called Timberville that we used to take our little boy to play at when he was a toddler. The north fork of the Shenandoah runs right through the middle of the town, and borders that little park. We used to sit there for hours at a time, tossing pebbles into the water and watching the minnows and catfish swim past.

I hated the political and cultural atmosphere of the Shenandoah Valley, but I miss the scenery so, so much. There are times when I'd give just about anything to look out the window and see Massanutten mountain jutting up over the horizon again.

26. No, but we went tubing! lol

My ex-husband's family owned timeshare up there, so we'd go a few times a year to hang out at the clubhouse. We'd play basketball, swim, use the hot tubs, and the sauna. And of course, wintertime at Massanutten is all about the tubing! *lol*

Last summer, further down south here in Florida two women were attacked fatally. One was jogging along a levee but I can't remember where or how the other was killed. Very rare something like that happens but it only takes once.

Sometimes the allies would crawl out onto 17 (major road between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach) to warm their bellies on the blacktop. Nothing brings traffic to a screeching halt quite like a dozing alligator stretched across the lanes.

One of the nice upper-middle-class neighborhoods of Victoria. It overlooks the Strait of Juan De Fuca, and on a clear day, you can see The Cascade and Olympic ranges and the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.

That way I can retire in beautiful un-crazy Canada, and still see the nation of my birth every day.
