You know you're from Michigan if...
You are still mourning that massacre otherwise known as the Rose Bowl...

You can use the back of your hand as a state map to show people where you're from....

You know that pasties are not something strippers put on their nipples...

You find it ironic that the state that gave the world the automobile has the worst roads EVER...

You know what a leaf peeper is....

You ARE a leaf peeper.....

You know that the directions from East Lansing to Ann Arbor are: go south until you smell it, and then east until you step in it...

You realize that you really ARE better off without that fat slob of a three-term Republican nightmare of a governer otherwise known as John Engler...

You, or a member of your family, works in the automotive industry or for a company that supplies the automotive industry....

1. The most unique fragrance in the world: Mackinac Island
The only place that smells of fudge and horse sh*t in equal measure.
You are also from Michigan if:

You know how to pronounce "Mackinac"
You consider Vernor's the greatest drink on Earth.
You're a Detroiter who knows that "up North" starts after Clare.
You're from the Detroit area and define yourself as either an East Sider or West Sider.
You're still a Lions fan, unless you're in the western half of the UP, when you're a Packers fan.
You know that Michigan has more shoreline than any of the 48 contiguous states (sorry California. Sorry Florida).

17. This West-sider HATES Vernors!
Ah yes, the old east/west sider thing. I am completely lost on the east side. Born and raised on the west side.

Did anyone mention Sander's?

I spent 4 pretty great years there. Of course, it was in the early/mid-eighties, things could have changed a lot since then. :-)

12. hee hee hee...
Sorry to have brought him up like that, in a sneak attack. Remember the billboards he used to have? Aaaiiiieeeeee!!!!!!

Here's a couple more (more about being a Detroiter):

You know that Kid Rock is not actually from Detroit, but Romeo, and you know where it is...

You have nightmares about Bill Bonds and his toupee...

You know who Mort Crim is (as featured in the lastest White Stripes CD) and you're sure Carmen Harlan misses him...

You know the first band that Jack White played with professionally was called "Goober and the Peas"...

You either rabidly love or rabidly hate the Noguchi fountain in Hart Plaza and aren't afraid to say so publicly...

You know how to say "Eight Mile" correctly, emphasising "eight" and not "mile" and it irritates you when people say it incorrectly...

You know to steer clear of any bars or clubs in Warren on a Saturday night...

You know at least one person who knows/slept with/got into a fight with/lived next to Eminem/Kid Rock/the members of Insane Clown Posse...
