I thought he was great

The Cowboy montage had me laughing out loud.

In the bed waking up with George Clooney I thought that was too cute

His media "period pieces" joke was funny

I thought he was great!

32. he was the reason I stayed tune...
The cowboy montage had me in tears as did the oscar campaign cartoons. I saw some celebs laugh (Fox, Clooney). But everyone else took themselves too seriously. Charlize Theron looked as if she had sucked a lemon (or was constipated, I couldn't decide). They take themselves far too seriously, which is why the oscars have become so boring and tedious.

33. I actually enjoyed watching the Oscars and the Golden Globes this yr
and mainly (Besides Jon at the Oscars) it was because the movies were so good this year. And I think just like at the Golden Globes everyone was so gracious this year because they know this year was a good movie year despite what all the big money press says about films making money and such - There were a lot of good good films out this year - I think most of the actors/actresses had fun.

Some did seem a bit sour as you have said but I think for the most part it was fun to watch.

9. Yes, they're covering this poll all day on MSNBC !
Jon's still at 73%, which makes his non-reactionary live audience look more like they needed someone to explain the "jokes". His serious wit was far too intelligent for that crowd.

10. I also sent them a response about the article
the author was right; the self-important narcissistic "Academy audience" just didn't get it.

11. I did too. Someone is sending a fax around to tank Jon.
The house audience is always a little distracted.

Good luck to his detractors, they're gonna need it. :hi:

15. The Academy made themselves boring...
Remember Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, ..etc

When anyone made political speeches and got attention and the media was all abuzz about how "liberal Hollywood" was being mean...and too political...the Academy freaked...

So what did they do...? They capitulated and now the Oscars are another boring awards show where no one wants to offend anyone.

The Academy should just give the "establishment" the finger and let people hang loose...that way they would get more attention and be more entertaining...

It used to be you had to stay up until 1 am to see the winner...now it is all tightly wrapped up in a box and presented so pretty...that it is boring.

16. I missed the Oscar's but the jokes are funny in print
Jon Stewart's comedic style is not for the masses. I love his Daily Show, but bringing his style to the Oscar Show was a challenge to begin with. I wasn't optimistic.

They got it. All of it. It's a stuffy room and his first go round. Next year should be even better.

23. Why are these cable sites
trying to raise controversy over John Stewart's Oscar performance? Last week CNN ran a lame poll asking if you thought he would bomb or do great. Larry King had Stewart on, and over and over asked if he was nervous, if he was going to say anything political, if he was given any restrictions on what he could say. Mind boggling.

26. Stewart was great.
He could have strayed away from the political jabs, but they were tame, but funny none the less, in comparison to his show.

This was the first Oscars I watched in its entirety. They usually bore me to tears, this ws actually entertaining.

I can't believe all the negative press about his performance today... I thought he did an excellent job. I especially liked all the Campaign Ads!! They were brilliant!
