Question for the ABD crowd
What are you going to do if, in fact, Dean does win the nomination?

59. My stance has changed
If Dean does not get the nomination, I would vote for the nominee if they denounce the anti-Dean ad that links Dean to Osama bin LAden within the next week.

If Dean does not get the nomination and the nominee never denounced the ad, I will be doing one of two things:

1) voting third party
2) staying home.

Right now, I am for NBD. I will stand here until I hear at least one candidate denounce the ad.

2. There IS NO ABD crowd.
There IS an NBD crowd (Nobody But Dean), and that is passing fair annoying. I am rather tired of hearing about everyone else's "feet of clay," but the same trait on Howard Dean is somehow proof positive of his integrity/sensitivity/strength/adaptability/realism/...........

I have personally never gone off on a "GET DEAN!" tear around here, but I sure have (both directly and by proxy) been called some interesting things for supporting Clark.

45. No sh*t!
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 12:36 PM by PHDiva
I have made my husband promise that we will not be within US borders for the election. If the public doesn't roll over like they did for the last coup, it may be the signal to take the fabulous tactics we saw in Miami nationwide... and I gotta say, that is not a coast-to-coast tour I want to be any part of!

I haven't yet decided for certain what to do if Dean gets the nod. I must say honestly that he is the candidate that has the least of my confidence, outside of Smokin'Joe.

I guess I'll think about jumping off that bridge if we get to it... until then, I will hope that we rally behind a candidate that has the platform & record to take a firm stand against the real enemy, privatization & corporate ownership of America.

edit for spelling... oops!

7. ABD is a misnomer.
i am not ABD - I am a Clark supporter. I think Dean is fine and is my 2 or 3 guy. I will vote for Dean if he gets the nomination. I am simply hoping that Clark gets it, because I honestly believe he is not only a better candidate, but would be a better President than Dean or any of the others - not that any of them wouldn't be better by a mile than *. I am a Clark supporter. I am not ABD but I am ABB.

25. someone just yesterday
was posting "Democrats Against Dean"... think that comes pretty close to qualifying.

Personally I find the absolutists (my guy or the highway... and the that guy and I bolt) folks very counterproductive. As if they believe that creating deep divisions in the name of their righteousness is a good thing. But of course that isn't as bad as the periodic posts of... lets get campaigns to gangup on another campaigns to try to subvert the targetted campaign (those are pretty rare - but have shown up from time to time... turning my stomach to see the advocation of Don Segretti type tactics).

Read enough on GD and you see it all. Lots of it ugly. From all fans of all major candidates (well no... haven't seen destructive posts from supporters of Sharpton, Mosley-Braun, Gephardt or Lieberman.) None of it productive. And all of it seemingly blissfully unaware and unwilling to take responsibility for the likely end results of their efforts - and fractured grassroots base with diseffected activists unwilling to do the very hard work in each community that will be required (hours and hours of OUR volunteer time) to counter the spending/propoganda spree that will be reigned upon the eventual nominee by Bush.

End of rant.

ok...I was rash in how I said that

to be more fair, I really guess what I want to see is some of Dennis's ideas brought into the Dean platform...those of us who fervently support dennis support him for the ideas, the Progressive ideas...don't ignore us, that's what I would say to the Dean campaign...take on some of those ideas...Universal Single Payer healthcare to start

make a concerted effort to reach out to the more left wing of the party

otherwise, if I feel ignored, if I feel those of us out here on the leftist fringe are ignored, then yes, i will vote Green

for god sake, how can you ignore a whole segment of people, and then get upset when they don't vote for you??

All this doom and gloom. That sucks, it really does. Don't you think that now that Dean has the most momentum, he can hire some really good advisors to help him try to unite the party? Or you think he's just some DINO loose cannon with no strategy? I just don't get it.

Methinks you are acting exactly the way Bush and Rove want us to. Fer crissakes, this election is VITALLY IMPORTANT. I'll support whoever gets the nomination- you really should too. Look, guys, right now, and I suspect it'll only get better, WE have the momentum. You're not seeing vast amounts of people fleeing the Democratic party right now; in fact, the exodus is in the other direction. SO do we fight, or do we give up and accept our reaming like the good little milquetoast Dems the right thinks we are? I know which way I'll be going.

Not trying to be rude, just want to know. From my perspective, it would really be nice if my horse had received common courtesy from many supporters of the ski-bum-cum-backbone over the past year and a half before they poisoned the well by calling him Bush-Lite and worse. But, I'm a Democrat first. So, if Dean's the nominee, the ex-governor ex-doctor ex-stockbroker has got my vote.

52. That's a pretty small crowd...
and seems a little smaller than the ABC, ABL, or ABK crowds. But I can't say that for sure.

So it doesn't really make a lot of difference what they do, does it?

Most of us will work and vote for the nominee, though, and wonder just why questions like this pop up from time to time.

Personally, when a nominee is chosen I'll spend a little time watching how ALL the losers react.

It should be interesting. I'll make popcorn.

53. I'll try to deal with 4 more years of "W"
"Dean's advantage is bolstered by his strong appeal to the well-educated liberal wing of the party in Iowa and New Hampshire. Nearly half of Dean's Iowa supporters are college graduates and far more describe themselves as liberals (38 percent) than conservatives (17 percent). The Dean supporters are notable not just for the vehemence of their opposition to the Iraq war but also for their support of gay marriage and for their variance from national norms of religious belief. Forty percent of the Dean supporters in New Hampshire, his strongest state, say they seldom or never attend church."

- from David Broder's column in the Washington Post, 12/11/03
www.washingtonpost.com

Forget the South, Dean would be lucky to win any states in the Midwest.

55. Do you always take your cues from Broder?
He doesn't exactly have a great track record for his political analysis.

77. Broder is the new enemy today

This is bordering on pitiful - do the Dean people have to slam EVERY person whose opinion they don't agree with? Who is correct - only those people who write what passes muster with you?

That sounds like, um, wait, I got it - Limbaugh!

74. watch him sell you all down the river
If he manages not to go down in flames and gets in, I will laugh morbidly as he proves my predictions about him correct. We will have replaced Bush Jr. with Nixon Jr. I suppose that's a step up, if you LIKE Republican rule!

I don't like it, so I am fighting his nomination, for the sake of the progressive soul of this party.

81. you mean like Dean?
He IS an insider corprocat, or whatever mangled name you tried creating there.

Voting for Dean enables the corporate status quo. The only FEAR on these boards is the fear of a TRULY progressive agenda taking hold and a FEAR of taking on Bush with anything less than a lighter clone of him, which Dean is. Thus, furthering the cynicism of rank and file Dems who once again get saddled with Tweedledee and Tweedledum. The Dean faction is polarizing the party, and weakening it beyond the DLC's wildest wet dreams.

89. Some of them
may just vote for Bush, so they can come back here and say "see - I told you he couldn't win". I can see a few of these people doing that, from what I've read from them. It's gotta be their guy or nobody.
