Lautenberg's Rhetorical Missile
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 04:31 PM by The Witch
EDIT: Retitled by request, but I still have to say it. What have they been FEEDING these guys?

EDIT 2: Hat tip to Think Progress

Lautenberg's Rhetorical Missile
Just two days after Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) forced a closed session to highlight an alleged lack of progress into a probe of pre- Iraq war intelligence, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) staged another act of political disobedience today.

Lautenberg filed an amendment to change the official name of the "Deficit Reduction Omnibus Reconciliation Act 2005" to the "Moral Disaster of Monumental Proportion Reconciliation Act."

5. They were waiting for Shrub's numbers to fall.
I can't blame them completely for doing it either. Notice it's not only the Dems but some in the Press too.

I guess nobody wants to attack a popular Pres. but when he bocomes unpopular, there's no holds barred!

20. "I wuz duped" beats Schumer's "...and I'm proud of it."
I hope more Dems apologize for their pro-invasion votes, and admit Bush tricked them. It helps shift the debate, and shows they have a little spine left.

Indeed, what the hell have they been serving the Dems at the Senate cafeteria?

15. Sometimes it takes a rich old white guy to force decency upon the world
The despicable names--diametrically opposed to the real intent of laws--has become beyond laughable. How can anyone trust governments that foist off things with names like "healthy forests", "clear skies", "patriot" and other initiatives that are specifically designed to destroy what they claim to want to preserve?

A little reality goes a long way.

46. There not much honesty in that article.........
the author states that these cuts were necessary because of the massive recovery effort in the Gulf States after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He doesn't mention the BLACK HOLE IN IRAQ, from which no dollar escapes as it implodes in on itself! What are we up to now, $250 Billion or so that we've sunk into that bottomless pit of Bush's arbitrary, illegal, immoral war in Iraq?

The author is being somewhat disingenuous in his assessment. Bush's fiscal policies were a complete nightmare to begin with. These storm recovery woes just picked the scab off the real problem and exposed our country's financial pitfalls. Let's put the blame where it's due, squarely on Bush's sloping shoulders.

31. Uh...perhaps a version of this fine delicacy...
This is an actual recipe from askthemeatman.com

Calf/Bull Fries Recipe

2 pounds calf testicles*
2 cups beer
2 eggs, beaten
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup yellow cornmea1
Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Vegetable oil**
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
* You can use bull or calf testicles. Calf testicles are the size of a walnut and are more tender than the larger bull testicles.

** Use enough vegetable oil to fill your frying container halfway to the top (to allow for bubbling up and splattering) and to completely cover calf testicles while frying. http://www.askthemeatman.com/variety_meats_-_liver,_tounge,_sweetbread.htm

Or perhaps, they decided to have their own version of this event: http://www.oakdalecowboymuseum.org/press_releases.htm
