We got robbed today, please think good thoughts for us.
Yeah, our car radio was stolen out of our car, right in front of our house.

We reported it to the police.

Later a good looking but very intimidating and loud young black guy came into our house to tell us about it.

He was loud, and coming from a person that is constantly told to shut up, that's pretty loud.

He seemed ok, nice enough, but from my interactions with cocaine addicts and manic depressives flags did go up.

He told us who he thought stole our radio and invited us to go to church with him. I think that we have a lot of people in common but I'm still kinda wigged out about the whole incident. The robbery and our visitor were both out of the ordinary and it's always a struggle to get things back to normal once your routine has been broken.

I know that there are messed up, crazy people everywhere, cause I have definitely dealt with enough of them, and now I'm all out of sorts.

I am going to his church tomorrow for 2 reasons, one to see if he was being honest and also because their are too many smart black people in my area that should be involved in politics who are not. The majority of democratic leadership positions are filled with Bush voting rich white assholes, I would love for the black community in my area to get involved. Hopefully tomorrow I'll meet some people interested in participating.

Anyway, I would like to assume the best about my visitor but judging from his mannerisms he could be crazy news.

So just think good thoughts for me, and pray that he is legit.

1. I'm sorry that happened
:( I had a cd player (it was an older one) that was stolen and a burnt copy of a cd I had. So I know how it feels. But it was a lil okay cause the player was orignially my mother's and everything. But it's never fun.

So sorry that your car was broken into :-( I'm astounded that someone would find it valueable.

Hope you meet some nice people tomorrow. :-)

3. The sense of having your space so invaded
is so disconcerting. Loosing that sense of safety is just unsettling.

Going to church sounds great, but will anyone else be home? Your flags went up, so that makes my flags go up. Sorry, it reminds me of the plot of too many old sit-coms where people are given tickets or something and there house is robbed while they are out.

9. I'm going to church tomorrow with my older son Luke, my hubby
and youngest son Xander will be home alone.

Dave is a big guy and has plenty of Martial Arts training, but still I worry.

Dave also suspected that he was trying to get us out of the house, I hope he's wrong, but the cocaine vibes were coming off of my visitor. He kept wiping his nose and that is never a good sign.

This feeling sux, I don't feel 100% safe, and that really bothers me.

All I can say is that people robbing you is not one of the hallmarks of a healthy community.

4. Hope you see him at church...
He may have been setting you up, casing the place. He came inside, you say? Knew all about it, huh?

I'm just saying....

5. My apartment got cleaned out when I lived in Oxford.
The dirty little secret of that town is that despite its Norman Rockwell look and all that, anything you don't nail down will get stolen.

My sympathies.

6. yikes!
 Sorry I found this a bit humorous.....did you ever see "Office space" the part where the white guy is in his car and he's jamming out to rap music..along comes a black guy walking toward the car so he discretely locks his door and turns the music down until the guy passes?
I'll send good thoughts that you don't get robbed again........not sure why you felt it necessary to describe the guy the way you did though...

10. Cause I live in the south, and people can be fucking crazy here!
It doesn't matter if he was black or purple, in fact had it been a crazy redneck I would have been even more terrified, but none the less crackheads are not cool.

Manic Depressives are not cool! Off the meds they are very dangerous, I've dealt with too many of them to take it lightly.

Just seriously think good thoughts, cause I am wigging myself out.

7. Its a fundie invasion!
J/K, I doubt that black people really believe the fundie crap. Its all exaggerated, Bush Admin thinks they have the black people in the bag but they all make fun of them behind their fat Karl Rove backs.

Most african americans are just democrats by nature. Don't be too pushy, but see if you can get everyone involved. Especially after the racism in Ohio last year and this year.

Hell, I wish 90% of white people had been smart enough to vote for Kerry and Gore.

supporter of Bush. Right ON!!!!! I learn a lot from these friends about where America is heading. No sugar-coated scenarios about the going ons.

12. Sorry for you. Thankfully - it was only stuff. What matters is your
safety & sense of security. Play it smart and safe. And if you get the spider sences tingling... follow your instincts - they are often right. Take care of you & yours. Perhaps this visitor really was a witness or wanted to help. But a crime is not the place to be bonding with others. Your boundaries are important. Don't loose that.

Peace!

14. I'd bet you got cased by the guy who took your stereo
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 01:35 AM by Autonomy
Why didn't he just tell you, or tell the police who stole it? What's the church thing all about? It doesn't make sense.

With strangers I always use the rule of the street: anyone who approaches you wants something. It never fails.

edit: typo

16. We gave him four dollars cause that was all the cash I had
I know it was a bad idea, but if he is that fucked up, he needs it more than me.

Than again, I could be wrong, and I'll see him at church tomorrow and I'll feel alright about everything.

Till then, I'm worried.

The guise of helping her was his way in the door. I've seen this happen (in MD) with people who walk around with lawnmowers trying to get people to let them mow their lawn. This gets them up close to the house to check windows. And if they'e lucky they get invited in for a cold drink for an even better look. edit: and/or to use the groundfloor bathroom and unlock a window./edit
I doubt he'll be at church. :(

19. WAIT!!! i'm a little confused
first of all, if a real cute guy walked into my house i might think: "wow, he's really cute but what the fuck is he doing in my house?"

1. how does this guy "think" he knows who took your stereo?

2. who the heck is he?

3. who let him inside the house?

4. what does going to church have to do with ANYTHING???

5. why are you giving him money?

6. what does going to church with some stranger have to do with getting people involved in politics? (are you planning on preaching politics to newly made church friends--and by the way, i've heard whites ((republican racists)) complain about the fact that black churches tend to be politically active....)

20. Ok, his looks have nothing to do with it, he just happend to be an alright
looking guy.

He said that he was a practicing minister and the person that stole our radio was a guy he knows with a bad drug problem.

He knocked on the door and when I opened it, he just walked in.

He invited us to see him at church tomorrow.

He asked for money, and I gave him the four dollars I had in cash, which wasn't the best idea, but who am I to deny someone in need.

He said he went to that church and I had been before to try and recruit democrats.

I have been meaning to go back, but time hadn't permitted it.

Well, I just found out that he is lying and now I'm totally freaked.

And you say it makes you totally freaked, but it also confirms your flags are working. Good.
And protective light surround thee (that is good vibes to you, which I neglected to say before)

24. Melody, have you called the police?
You need to report this. Get past your fear and being freaked out and act. There is something really weird about what you describe happening. We've been burglarized once. It is a freaky feeling to know that someone has been into your home and has violated your living space. What bothers me is the fact that the guy who came to your house entered without being invited. Why should church offering have been part of a discussion at all? Why would a minister not have called you first and asked you to come to the church office to discuss something like this?

You need to report a crime.
