Can't make it to a vigil tonight?
All the vigils I know of are miles away, so I've put an electric candle in the window (the ones I use at Christmas). It's a small symbol of solidarity, and I hope everyone who can't be out in person can do something like this. It might get the neighbors talking, too. :)

11. My windows are still boarded
Hurricane season, it takes so much to put up the boards, I decided to keep them up (especially since every time I turn around another hurricane is out there somewhere). I do have a candle lit in the house though.

We shall have our own DU vigil, right here in this thread! :grouphug:

 Hi Rev! :hi:

Nice to see ya, darlin'!

I wish I had thought of it earlier. For tonight, we'll have to make do with just one candle. :)

But everyone else must be out vigil-ing.
And it just ain't as much fun without Sparky. :(

It was nice hearing Keith name Rush as "Worst Person in the World", though. :loveya:

16. Where has sparky been?
I've missed him too, he used to pop in and say hi and smile that smile just to make my day better. :-(

Where did he go?

I hear that about Keith's honest reporting - it is so very refreshing to hear someone on the news speak the truth Rush is the Worst Person in the World! :loveya: :loveya:

31. I do appreciate the offer bonito!
And a belated Welcome to DU! :hi:

I have decided to keep them up to keep the storms away. As soon as I take them down you know a storm will blow into the Gulf, so I will leave them up until November. Heck, I can paint pumpkins on them for Halloween decorations and add turkeys for Thanksgiving!

Thanks so much for the kind offer!

32. I'm way out in the wilds of NC. The candle is lit, for me and the dogs.
One of my dear friends in Greenville, SC, just called. She went to the vigil at the Haynesworth Federal Building in downtown Greenville. She said that it was a very subdued affair (as it should be) with no hecklers. Two TV stations covered it (4 & 7), along with print media. She said that it was a good turnout, but I forgot to get a head-count estimate.

The closet vigil was 40 miles away, just couldn't make it. They even had the Salt Lake vigils on the local Fox news channel at 9pm and it was a pretty supportive coverage segment. Suprising for Right Wing Utah.
