1. Agreed

Reagan introduced wealth as a sign of Godliness, and poverty and mental illness as a sign of Satan. He completely reversed Christ's teachings. So many dems are "scared" of attacking Reagan because he is one of the first to make people feel good about their accumulation of wealth with disregard to the poor. Even Nixon said the poor were blessed and brought up his Quaker upbringing as a value. Reagan reversed this mindset.

2. I watched that show.....

and the SAME thing crossed my mind. For a while the prisons wouldn't even touch them, so these people were just turned out into the streets. I traveled to NYC quite a bit during those days, and it was incredible to see them on the streets, homeless, psychotic and no one gave a damn. So many of them as well. I always hoped there was a special level of hell reserved for Reagan.

6. My dorm in Manhattan was adjacent to a "hotel' which was the new home to

manyof the people once in facilities. They had not adjusted well and many were entering the prison system. It breaks my heart.

3. Sad indeed

Prison systems aren't equipped to provide mental health services so the unfortunates who end up there suffer. Those who remain on the streets suffer as well. With the incessant cuts to MH service funding no doubt there will be more people ending up on the streets, and later in the prisons...

5. It astounds me when Freeps hold him up as a hero

That mother was an ACTOR. A fucking actor who - like * today - had no clue how the average person lives. I thought he was the Anti-Christ then; little did I know subsequent Repukes would deserve that title even more than Reagan did.

My enmity for him sparked and blazed working in hospitals during his presidency. Not only did he abandon any commitment to the mentally ill; he refused to take AIDS seriously. A goddamned ACTOR was he, thinking it was some part he could choose not to play. I watched kids die and wondered how the hell someone could attain a position of leadership and be so heartless.

He is the Daddy and God of all the heartless fuckers out there today.

Funny: yesterday I found an old Mad magazine from '92. Had RayGun reading his version of A Christmas Carol. Of course, in his version, Scrooge was a good businessman and Cratchet merely a lazy employee. Yeah, he was a real piece of work, that one...
