Anyone else trembling on the edge of an eruption?
I am cleaning the shit out of my apartment to avoid smashing everything in it into matchsticks.

Unfuckingbelievable.

3. I'm learning to live
with the outrage....

I'm fortunate enough to have a blood pressure monitoring device to keep me from exploding.....whenever the bp gets too high, I leave DU or CSPAN and either go for a walk (although it's still freeking cold) or go out in the back yard and cut big chunks out of the snow with a golf club....calms me right down......

13. learning to live with the outrage. well put.
learning to accept that the world is not just, not fair, not sensible.

learning that stupid and evil people may never have to 'pay the piper' but instead might get a promotion, live a long life in wealth and luxury and die a peaceful natural death.

65. I have B/P problems, too, with strong situational overlays.
I find that 50 mg of atenolol + dyazide doesn't always control my B/P in these troubled times. My sphygmometer stays right by my computer. I check and log my b/p twice a day (or more in high stress situations).

Best B/P medicine ever!

234. No, there are two accepted spellings.
That is why I "cut-and-pasted" from the dictionary. Your sphygmomanometer is one of the two accepted spellings. My sphygmometer is the other accepted spelling. Your correction to my correction is incorrect. Got it?

I am so fatigued from all of the bullshit this administration pulls that I just cannot get pissed off about anything anymore. Nothing that they do surprises me...it is more like "same shit, different day."

I have come to the realization that these fuckers will keep on doing what they are doing and they will get away with everything. The media doesn't challenge them, the democrats certainly don't challenge them, and the majority of the people of this country are too stupid or apathetic to give a shit.

42. I heard that here in VA electronic voting is supposed to
take over. Completely.
So here in VA we haven't a hope for 2006.

In 2004 I refused to vote electronically.
This guy was posted at the booths and said, "would you like to try voting on the computers?"

I said "no... I don't trust them until they can put out a paper trail... I mean, if the manufacturers can build ATMs with a paper trail, they surely can build a damn voting machine that has a verifiable record of the vote.. would you trust a bank that didn't give out receipts?
No. I thought so. Well, my vote is at LEAST AS IMPORTANT as my banking transactions, and I DON'T WANT TO VOTE ON YOUR COMPUTERS!!"

Then in a whisper he replied, "I hear you. I don't trust them either."

I guess I'm talking about this because I don't even want to get started on how I feel about ANWR.
How many of you are ready to fly p there and build a human shield around ANWR?

I am long past thinking of what it will take. I don't think there is any point to reach any longer. We will take it and take it and take it....and take it some more.

What the American people have LONG forgotton is that the government exists only by THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED. WE THE PEOPLE NO LONGER CONSENT. SO WHAT DO WE DO? Our party is laughable, they cannot stand together for anything. These three pitiful fools today, what have they gained? THEY MAKE MY HEART SICK, AND I AM SO SICK OF THESE FOOLS WHO FOR FOOLS GOLD HAVE SOLD SOMETHING PRECIOUS AND IRREVOCABLE.

PITIFUL BASTARDS - WHEN WILL WE TAKE UP THE PITCHFORKS, AND STAND IN OUR STREETS UNTIL THIS GOVERNMENT LISTENS TO THE PEOPLE.

Sounds good to me. Instead of Yucca Mountain, I'm sure they could find a much bigger/better mountain to dump the stuff. Think of all the jobs THAT would create. They want jobs at any cost? Give 'em Yucca Mountain's expected waste. :grr:

A group of friend and I were already to invade your corrupt country before I found DU.

We had amassed at the Peace bridge and were about to attack when we saw a VW van with Florida plates and a DU bumper sticker. The driver got out of the van and kissed the ground once arriving in Canada.

After a quick chat with these friendly folks my friends and I decided to give you guys some more time to sort yourselves out before invading.

We hope to help. Any suggestions?

I am outraged, simply outraged. And I am so pissed off that I sent that weasel Ken Salazar money for his campaign & put his stinkin' yard sign in my yard. He confirmed Condi, Gonzalez, & voted yea for tort reform, bankruptcy & now ANWAR. I am so goddamned mad right now, I cannot write a letter to him or any of the other dem traitors till I calm down or I will be in jail for threatening a senator.

I cannot wish enough bad things to happen to the current thugs & weasels in our government.

46. My living room is sparkling now
After November, I learned to put the outrage to use. I've also been somewhat detached knowing that votes like this would happen over the next 4 years. I've been numb, but not inactive.

My talk yesterday with an Iranian American for whom I have a great deal of respect has given me hope. He said, "I have faith in the people." This is a man who cannot return to Iran and hasn't seen his family in 20 years because he would not serve in their military. He says the loss of liberties for our safety is the same approach the Mullahs take; it's all politics.

At some point, the economic reality of these policies will turn enough people to achieve critical mass.

Keep up the good fight and do not lose hope. Enjoy your clean apartment. :)

... that nobody warned them about potential problems -- and that they didn't oversell the idea in the first place. This will be true for ANWR, and Social Security privatization, and Iraq ...

Document everything! Not just the social and environmental impacts resulting from any development, but the paper trail showing who stands to make a buck. If this is anything like their other efforts, the promised benefits won't materialize. How many jobs and for how long? How much oil and who actually uses it, Americans or overseas buyers?

56. For all of you wondering when people will take to the streets en masse
I'll tell you when that will happen:

1. When people get cold enough

2. When people get hungry enough

3. When people get generally uncomfortable enough

and

4. When people turn off their cable/satellite.

Any combination of 1-3, along with #4, will produce real revolt, street style.

Until then, don't hold your breath. As long as people are eating, halfway comfortable, and sitting in front of the box, ain't nothing gonna happen.

With the bushies in charge, though, a combo of 1-3 isn't ever too far off.

If King George tells the masses they need to be cold, hungry, and poor so he can keep saving the world, they will do it. The word lemming comes to mind. I think when the revolution comes it's going to have to be a whole new kind of revolution. Don't ask me to explain what that means, I just have a feeling that large scale protests or street style revolution ain't gonna cut it in the information age. Not that I will stop protesting or anything but I've been, since the election, trying to figure out how to stop this runaway train. Everytime I think the counrty will say enough is enough, some other crazy thing happens and people just look away, or worse, spin it to the point where up is down... I think the revolution is going to be electronic.
BTW this wasn't a shot at you I think you are one of the best posters in this joint :toast:

King George can tell the public whatever he wants and the majority of them swallow it hook, line and sinker. After all, he is a "war time President" who makes a decision and sticks with it.

As long as georgie and co. have the media in their pocket, there will not be a revolution of any kind.

208. I'm predicting it'll be a very "hot" summer. People couldn't express
their dissatisfaction with the Election in Nov. because logistically it started snowing,and getting cold, and the Holidays came, and everyone was busy.

But everyone's growing gradually dismayed, and once they all start sitting out on their door steps in the summer, I'm predicting a real awakening...reminiscent of the 60's.

60. This is the way the world ends - not with a bang but with a whimper
The Hollow Men
T. S. Eliot (1925)

I

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;

Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us -- if at all -- not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men.

II

Eyes I dare not meet in dreams
In death's dream kingdom
These do not appear:
There, the eyes are
Sunlight on a broken column
There, is a tree swinging
And voices are
In the wind's singing
More distant and more solemn
Than a fading star.

Let me be no nearer
In death's dream kingdom
Let me also wear
Such deliberate disguises
Rat's coat, crowskin, crossed staves
In a field
Behaving as the wind behaves
No nearer --

Not that final meeting
In the twilight kingdom

III

This is the dead land
This is cactus land
Here the stone images
Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead man's hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star.

Is it like this
In death's other kingdom
Waking alone
At the hour when we are
Trembling with tenderness
Lips that would kiss
Form prayers to broken stone.

IV

The eyes are not here
There are no eyes here
In this valley of dying stars
In this hollow valley
This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms

In this last of meeting places
We grope together
And avoid speech
Gathered on this beach of the tumid river

Sightless, unless
The eyes reappear
As the perpetual star
Multifoliate rose
Of death's twilight kingdom
The hope only
Of empty men.

V

Here we go round the prickly pear
Prickly pear prickly pear
Here we go round the prickly pear
At five o'clock in the morning.

Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow

For Thine is the Kingdom

Between the conception
And the creation
Between the emotion
And the response
Falls the Shadow

Life is very long

Between the desire
And the spasm
Between the potency
And the existence
Between the essence
And the descent
Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom

For Thine is
Life is
For Thine is the

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I actually questioned my religion today. Because I truly hate these Evil M-Fers. But, I am taking action in my own way.

1. Closing bank account out this week. My bank is on the list from Sinclair (Swift Boat Bastards).
2. Taking phone down to bare essentials. As long as the damn thing rings, fine. (Verizon) another bad corp. While I'm at it, I'm changing online providers, too.
3. Satellite - Bare Essentials, too! I'm going to use that blocking for kids and delete out that Military station, and CNN, FOX (JOKE), ABC, CBS, NBC, MS-NBC. What will I be missing? No news. Just PROPAGANDA and while I'm at it I'll call them again to say "Cya!"
4. My neighbors (lazy bunch) now own 3 that's 3 Suv's. Just bought another one some weeks back. Guess they were celebrating the contamination of our freedoms, and environment.

Why should I continue to pay hand-to-fist for those that lobby to harm us. I'm paying the devil. No more!

I'm heartbroken. How can this continue? How can those that call themselves religious fundamentalist really be Christians? They can't.

Here Freepers! Tell it to these two, since you don't give a damn about your fellow Americans. :sad:

Wanted to add: Where I live, FREEPERS better stay out of my way. I'm so fed-up with taking their crap. No more. Tired of being kind to those that don't are and THEY are part of the problem!

200. BIG HUGS, AuntiBush. :(
Your post touched me. I don't even want to THINK about what's been happening. I, too, am past tears, though they sometimes still leak from my eyes.

After November 2, I wailed over and over, "My country is dead. My country is dead. My country is dead."

Now I just watch helplessly as the right-wingers kill it. That polar bear in your post is worth more than all the freepers in this country. I feel that way right now. I know that I should be open to people and love people more than animals, but nature has shown itself to be more trustworthy, even as brutal as she can be.

108. What kind of foolishness is this?
I see how seriously the right wing takes these things. They post phony industry propaganda, and then when they get called on that, they resort to childishness.

The right wing base really doesn't care about this issue one way or the other, never did. It's always just about spite. You just want to 'show up' people you've been taught to hate.

It must suck being a foolish and obedient right wing foot soldier.

State spends more money on Arctic drilling
MARCH 13, 2001

http://64.62.196.98/News/archive.asp?ID=env/3132001-2&day=3/13/01

The Alaska Senate Finance Committee on Monday approved a $1.85 million spending plan to address efforts to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil drilling.

The House had previously approved a $1.5 million grant to Arctic Power, a pro-development group. The Senate approved the amount, added $250,000 for educational outreach, and $100,000 to go directly to the village of Kaktovik, whose residents have said they have been swamped by outside press descending upon the region in search of stories.

81. Got any links to those questionable facts?
I have no doubt those come from Newsmax or some industry hack run site like junkscience.com.

The fact is that scientists (not right wing industry hacks) believe that AK drilling will produce just a drop in the bucket, and will in practice produce just enough to line the pockets of the oil companies, but do nothing to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

I say let our last true great unspoiled American wilderness remain.

And sense wingers can only think in terms of dollars, and are totally incapable of thinking about things in terms of other values, let me say this: the value of wilderness is always increasing, because its existence on this earth is always shrinking. There are many who make money of that wilderness without raping it.

But I know wingers - wingers get off on despoiling places and things. It makes them all excited.

103. The polls are wrong!
Interestingly, only slightly more than half (53%) at least somewhat support (26% strongly support) energy reform that would allow companies to drill for oil in such areas as the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) which is the proposal President Bush and Republicans in Congress desire. In fact, just less than one-third (30%) of the public strongly opposes the idea of energy reform that allows drilling.

71. Wow. So this is what it's like to live in a nation that is dying...
...let's all wave to our friends in the "former Soviet Union!"

Hah!

Instead of smashing things into matchsticks I'm amusing myself with fantasies of Paul Wolfowitz trying to lend worthless dollars to people who don't want them.

"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzze...." Wolfowitz whines, "I'll throw in a couple of giant Cadillac and Lincoln SUV's!"

"Gasoline too?"

"Of course not!"

"How about a Hummer?"

"I could do that..."

"I'm sure you could! But you're not my type."

"Listen here, you tinpot dictator!"

"No, you listen to me, Mr. God Bless America. We can get a much better deal from China, and they're offering to pay off all our dollar debts. But no hard feelings, okay? Here, have a cigar. It's Cuban."

"But that's not fair!" Wolfowitz howls as he slaps the cigar onto the floor. "The United States has always been your nation's friend!"

"Yeah, right, sure you have. Boo-fucking-who."

"We will destroy you!"

"Be gone, witch, before somebody drops a house on you!"

Wolfowitz gets down on his belly, elongates, and slithers away to his next appointment...

I trust politicians to be politicians. I never expect more from them than what is justified. As a result, I'm never truly upset about anything bad that happens anymore, just a little disappointed and angered. I expect it because that's what most politicians are: Greedy, self-interested, back-stabbing, blood-sucking, hypocritical sorry sacks of shit.

Personally, I think this country is finished. Power is too concentrated, and it corrupts the souls of people. Rather than electing the few to be making decisions for us, we should be making the decisions ourselves and then telling them to carry out our mandate.

177. Guess you still have a decent-paying job, and think you have a future.
More and more people here don't have the former, and are feeling pretty depressed about the latter. These are times when people are supposed to be able look to their leaders for relief. But relief... coming from George Bush? Dick Cheney? HA! HA! HA! That would almost be funny, if so many millions hadn't suffered for the ambitions of these vile men.

Who knows what those bastards are in this for. Money? Power? Infamy? Whatever it is, it sure as hell ain't about anything good for you or I. And there's no end in sight. 2006 won't change that. Neither will 2008. 2012 might, though, but only because there will be many more people like those in this thread who will be very angry and desperate to make the usurpers of power pay attention to them.

199. Oh, it's not this thread I don't think
it's the loss of our democracy....bit by bit, piece by piece, day by day. The loss of a government "by the people, for the people". The fact that we are, in fact a one party country, not far from being a total dictatorship. I don't think many things are worth shedding human blood for, to be honest. I think, with this regime riding roughshod over our democracy, it may indeed have to come to that. To protect our children from having to go to any more unnecessary wars, to protect our environment, to protect our civil rights, to protect our ability to make a living, but most of all, to save our DEMOCRACY. You know - the "freedoms" everyone "hates us for". The ones we don't really seem to have anymore.

But then, I'm not sure we CAN take to the streets, since they're now throwing peaceful anti-war protestors into jail. Since they can hold people in jails for any length of time without charging them. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but this stuff really SCARES me.

Our checks and balance system (ie our democracy) isn't working anymore. Maybe you like facism, but I don't.

I'm fizzling into apathy and depression. I no longer have the emotional energy to do anything active, although I'll turn out for our local protest on March 19. If a lot of people do the same, I'll regain some hope.

One of the differences between this country and many others is that we no longer have much of a community life or tradition of sitting around in cafes and bars arguing about politics. Too many people are just accepting the trivialization of our culture.

I bet that if you stopped 100 people at the average shopping mall and asked them what today's biggest news story was, 90 of them would say Scott Petersons' death sentence. Five of them (mostly older) would say that it was Robert Blake being found innocent.

148. Lack of community
I think the fact that we're having this discussion on DU instead of in our neighborhoods, at the local pub, in line at the grocery store, is indicative of WHY there's no revolution. We have no cohesion.

And when we do, it's ephemeral. A million of us come together to protest the war, and then we wave good-bye and go home again, to our isolated little islands of frustration.

I don't know what the answer to that is. I don't know if it means we should put signs in front of our residences that say, in big bold letters "I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT TAKING IT ANY MORE -- HOW ABOUT YOU?" and see how many local folks respond? Or do we risk getting our houses targeted by RW thugs and we're afraid of what will happen so we take the safe, but silent, tack?

Do we wait for a leader to arise? How long do we wait? And how will we recognize that leader when she or he finally shows up?

I don't know. I just fucking don't know.

Then I know it is the time to do some Tai Chi and read Old Lao.

"Nothing in the world is as soft and as yielding as water,
but for dissolving the hard and unyielding, nothing can surpass it."

Center yourself in the Tao.

Thinking about GW running our beloved country can drive a patriot to despair and madness.

Stoic endurance is what these times call for.

"Marcus, we are shrubs. No cedars we. No big-boned men framed of the cyclops' size. But metal, Marcus, steel to the very back. Yet, wrung with wrongs more than our backs can bear. And since there is no justice in earth nor hell, we will solicit heaven, to send down justice for to wreak our wrongs."

BLOW THESE FASCISTS OUT FROM BEHIND THEIR MEDIA HIDING PLACES!

Tell the damn story of a nation led by scientifically-honed lies called PROPAGANDA for the last 60 years!

http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-overclass.html
(The Origins of the Overclass by Steve Kangas)
>snip<

Not surprisingly, the CIA began a mission in the late 1940s to recruit American journalists on a wide scale, a mission it dubbed Operation MOCKINGBIRD. The agency wanted these journalists not only to relay any sensitive information they discovered, but also to write anti-communist, pro-capitalist propaganda when needed.

The instigators of MOCKINGBIRD were Frank Wisner, Allan Dulles, Richard Helms and Philip Graham. Graham was the husband of Katherine Graham, today’s publisher of the Washington Post. In fact, it was the Post’s ties to the CIA that allowed it to grow so quickly after the war, both in readership and influence. (8)

MOCKINGBIRD was extraordinarily successful. In no time, the agency had recruited at least 25 media organizations to disseminate CIA propaganda. At least 400 journalists would eventually join the CIA payroll, according to the CIA’s testimony before a stunned Church Committee in 1975. (The committee felt the true number was considerably higher.) The names of those recruited reads like a Who's Who of journalism:

* Philip and Katharine Graham (Publishers, Washington Post)
* William Paley (President, CBS)
* Henry Luce (Publisher, Time and Life magazine)
* Arthur Hays Sulzberger (Publisher, N.Y. Times)
* Jerry O'Leary (Washington Star)
* Hal Hendrix (Pulitzer Prize winner, Miami News)
* Barry Bingham Sr., (Louisville Courier-Journal)
* James Copley (Copley News Services)
* Joseph Harrison (Editor, Christian Science Monitor)
* C.D. Jackson (Fortune)
* Walter Pincus (Reporter, Washington Post)
* ABC
* NBC
* Associated Press
* United Press International
* Reuters
* Hearst Newspapers
* Scripps-Howard
* Newsweek
* magazine Mutual Broadcasting System
* Miami Herald
* Old Saturday Evening Post
* New York Herald-Tribune

Perhaps no newspaper is more important to the CIA than the Washington Post, one of the nation’s most right-wing dailies. Its location in the nation’s capitol enables the paper to maintain valuable personal contacts with leading intelligence, political and business figures. Unlike other newspapers, the Post operates its own bureaus around the world, rather than relying on AP wire services. Owner Philip Graham was a military intelligence officer in World War II, and later became close friends with CIA figures like Frank Wisner, Allen Dulles, Desmond FitzGerald and Richard Helms. He inherited the Post by marrying Katherine Graham, whose father owned it.

After Philip’s suicide in 1963, Katharine Graham took over the Post. Seduced by her husband’s world of government and espionage, she expanded her newspaper’s relationship with the CIA. In a 1988 speech before CIA officials at Langley, Virginia, she stated:

We live in a dirty and dangerous world. There are some things that the general public does not need to know and shouldn’t. I believe democracy flourishes when the government can take legitimate steps to keep its secrets and when the press can decide whether to print what it knows.

This quote has since become a classic among CIA critics for its belittlement of democracy and its admission that there is a political agenda behind the Post’s headlines.

Ben Bradlee was the Post’s managing editor during most of the Cold War. He worked in the U.S. Paris embassy from 1951 to 1953, where he followed orders by the CIA station chief to place propaganda in the European press. (9) Most Americans incorrectly believe that Bradlee personifies the liberal slant of the Post, given his role in publishing the Pentagon Papers and the Watergate investigations. But neither of these two incidents are what they seem. The Post merely published the Pentagon Papers after The New York Times already had, because it wanted to appear competitive. As for Watergate, we’ll examine the CIA’s reasons for wanting to bring down Nixon in a moment. Someone once asked Bradlee: "Does it irk you when The Washington Post is made out to be a bastion of slanted liberal thinkers instead of champion journalists just because of Watergate?" Bradlee responded: "Damn right it does!" (10)

It would be impossible to elaborate in this short space even the most important examples of the CIA/media alliance. Sig Mickelson was a CIA asset the entire time he was president of CBS News from 1954 to 1961. Later he went on to become president of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, two major outlets of CIA propaganda.

The CIA also secretly bought or created its own media companies. It owned 40 percent of the Rome Daily American at a time when communists were threatening to win the Italian elections. Worse, the CIA has bought many domestic media companies. A prime example is Capital Cities, created in 1954 by CIA businessman William Casey (who would later become Reagan’s CIA director). Another founder was Lowell Thomas, a close friend and business contact with CIA Director Allen Dulles. Another founder was CIA businessman Thomas Dewey. By 1985, Capital Cities had grown so powerful that it was able to buy an entire TV network: ABC.

For those who believe in "separation of press and state," the very idea that the CIA has secret propaganda outlets throughout the media is appalling. The reason why America was so oblivious to CIA crimes in the 40s and 50s was because the media willingly complied with the agency. Even today, when the immorality of the CIA should be an open-and-shut case, "debate" about the issue rages in the media. Here is but one example:

In 1996, The San Jose Mercury News published an investigative report suggesting that the CIA had sold crack in Los Angeles to fund the Contra war in Central America. A month later, three of the CIA’s most important media allies — The Washington Post, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times — immediately leveled their guns at the Mercury report and blasted away in an attempt to discredit it. Who wrote the Post article? Walter Pincus, longtime CIA journalist. The dangers here are obvious.

Academia

By the early 50s, CIA Director Allen Dulles had staffed the CIA almost exclusively with Ivy League graduates, especially from Yale. (A disproportionate number of CIA figures, like George Bush, come from Yale’s "Skull and Crossbones" Society.) CIA recruiters also approached thousands of other professors to work in place at their universities on a part-time, contract basis. Not stopping at recruiting scholars, the agency would go on to create several departments at elite universities, including Harvard's Russian Research Center and the Center for International Studies at MIT.

Although most academics were supportive of the CIA in the 50s, most were unaware of its abuses. In the 60s, academia would become outraged to learn that anti-communist organizations like the National Student Association were actually creations of the CIA. The most audacious CIA front was the Congress for Cultural Freedom, an organization that attracted liberal, freethinking artists and intellectuals who nonetheless deplored communism.

By the late 60s and 70s, growing reports of CIA crimes and atrocities had deeply alienated academia. Scholars were further troubled to learn that the CIA had penetrated and disrupted student antiwar groups. Unlike business and the media, academia overwhelmingly denounced the CIA after the Vietnam era. This eventually forced the CIA to turn to new places to find their analysts and scholars. The most important source was the conservative think-tank movement, which it helped to create.

It could be Party of Enron vs Party of Working Families and 2006 could be looking real good right now. Instead who the heck knows what the Democratic Party stands for? I sure don't.

I've insisted since 2000 that Nader and the Greens were going the wrong way. Now I'm not so sure anymore. The Democratic Party doesn't appear to want to win an election. The DP members of congress seem to be more interested in keeping their corporate cash than in standing together and giving people something to vote FOR.

at the people who have a room full of duct tape and plastic, and letting my ass blow in the wind.

211. It's like we have to take all our cash/contributers and start a new party
with real democrats in charge. The losers we have just don't represent us anymore.

It's a disgrace.

222. Yesterday I watched two men get into a screaming match (in the suburbs)
to the point where I thouht to myself, "Hit the ground, someone's gonna pull a gun." It seems as if the entire country is on the verge of losing it. Civility is truly a thin veneer.

228.  since the Clinton years? near the edge...since Nov. 2000? on the edge
...since December 12, 2000?...over the edge & it's been one incredibly long nightmarish fall...and I'm still falling.

What the reichwing did during the Clinton years...all those years of attacks on America and Americans cloaked in attacks against Clinton...yes, they attacked Clinton but the real victims were America and Americans...

Then came Selection 2000...

I don't even count the last election...How can someone who was selected not elected to office be "re-"-elected?...Nothing kosher about the last election to my way of thinking...

I was called the "fringe" by republicans and (some) democrats alike...I was/am "too" left..."too" radical...."too" out of touch with "mainstream"...My anger's been palpable for years now. ANWR didn't send me over the edge...it came as I was already falling... and when I look down I see that , like me, America is closing in on rock bottom...the only difference being is I'll go SPLAT! while far too many Americans will believe that hitting rock bottom is not only patriotic but the way it's always been....

233. I Cried Uncontrollably . . .
after hearing about the coming destruction of ANWR. I am losing hope.

I caught the rerun on C-SPAN this morning with MoveOn and the Democratic Senators. It was wonderful. Today, I do not feel so hopeless.

245. No - I gave up hope
Partially in 2000, then fully in 2004

Now I have no hope for the system. Thank God there are some out there like you who still do.

247. This is SO how I feel.
Sorry to kick this post, but I needed to contribute my unfortunate GOD yes to this sentiment. To the posters who mentioned BP issues, I am right there with you. Yesterday and especially Tuesday were major high BP days for me. I don't know about the rest of you, but the worst part of this situation for me is having few outlets, beyond the online world, in which to vent these feelings. I have a roommate who, while she voted for Kerry and all, ignores news sources with any form of truth in them and keeps telling me to stop getting so emotionally involved in this "stuff."
