Let me point out that in my house my 10 pound cat makes the rules and my 100+ dog seems to realize my cat knows best. Brains over brawn. Another pannel for the cartoon.

My friend's corgi was the boss, and had a bizarre "no cats on the floor rule" in their apartment. He completely ignored the cat until it tried to step on the floor, and then he went into a barking, biting frenzy. It was a riot to see the cat navigate the apartment using only furniture, shelves, and windowsills. It was also funny to see the cat testing the corgi, quietly placing a paw on the floor behind the dog's back - the corgi would inevitably "catch" it and go berserk. Oddly enough, both animals seemed to enjoy the game.

But I have to say, I'm as rural as you get and there are six rotten cats here who CAN be herded, and who, left alone, can inflict some serious damage on the house ( screens, ductwork, trash....) PLUS I am a dog person. But I will be forgiving this one time only.....

The comparison can be inverted.

Cats are self-centered, vain, and only interested in their own benefit. They also put up this air of dignity but their sexual shenanigans keep the whole neighbourhood awake. And they change allegiance in the blink of an eye, depending on who's handing out the food.

Dogs just love life. And they treat all humans as equal. And when they see a threat, they stand and growl, they don't hiss and run away.

I'm not dissing cats - just showing how the comparison can work either way.

But...I wholeheartedly disagree with the cats and dogs thing. Canines are known to always challenge those in authority (alpha males in the pack), and mutually live with everyone in their pack (socialist). Dogs are also very caring, and they will defend what they care about as much as they can. Not to mention, dogs are very straight-forward, and they will feel bad about something they did wrong. Dogs are loyal, but this is only if they feel that a certain individual deserves their respect.
By the way, Republicans are NOT tough on crime.
