last i heard, AOL bought timeW.
Steve Case is the guy who owns AOL. AOL is terrible misbehaver... i read of false billing,... i had aol block my access to other isps via a secret code string. Wasted my time , as i tried to hook another isp, all effort futile, no reason known to me.

Radio repair show guy laughs when a caller says "i have aol" and says "there's your culprit".

8. Yep -- AOL bought Time-Warner

January 2000 and changed its' name to AOL Time-Warner. Three years later, Steve Case was pretty much forced to resign as CEO, and then in Sept. 2003 they dumped AOL from their name on the assumption that Time-Warner was less hated than AOL. Actually, it's because after the merger their stock fell like a brick.

You can likely (though I'm not completely sure) find more information on major stock holders from their SEC filings - which should be available online.
