Bush, Cheney agree to meet with Commission, but won't take oath.
Now what's the point of that? Why not just hold a press conference? They don't answer questions honestly there either.

Rice to Testify Publicly Before 9/11 Commission
Skip
The White House has also offered to the commission to have President Bush and Vice President Cheney meet jointly with the entire commission, though they would not be under oath.

Rice has already appeared for four hours in front of the Sept. 11 commission to answer questions in private about what the administration had been doing about terror threats. She has rejected testifying in public, arguing that she is prevented by executive privilege (search) from revealing confidential conversations.

6. Sounds as if...
They are afraid of perjuring themselves.

But it could be that Bush is afraid of not understanding the questions.

Cheney would just refuse to answer whatever he didn't want to answer. He and Lynne really think they are entitled.

9. REALLY?!?
That would be a huge deal. Since the testimony would be in private there wouldn't be a risk of perjury anyway, it's not like the Commission would turn them in.

3. Would be nice if they were to change the swearing in
of the administration. Put in words to the effect that they were considered "under oath and subject to the perjury laws" for the entire time of holding their offices.

4. But...
Clinton and Gore did the same thing. At some point, fair's fair or we're going to start looking as bad as those we accuse of unfairness. At least we get Rice public, under oath.

5. they have to lie. their worst enemy is the truth
they are acting like the authoritarians they really are.

If they were forced to tell the truth, the whole thing would fall apart.

Either put them under oath or don't hear from them.

7. "Will appear jointly" WTF?
Well, that proves it. Cheney really is running the show.

The AWOL in Chief* is incapable and afraid of facing the 9/11 commission alone.

he will not accept any responsibility for anything.

Such a Major Shirker and Smirker.

11. Kennedy called for Condi to testify publicly under oath,
THEN said Bush would have two weeks to decide whether he would testify under oath. He called for Bush to testify publicly under oath, citing the example of PRESIDENT FORD, who went before Congress and testified under oath about his pardoning of Nixon, BECAUSE IT WAS A MATTER OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE!!

14. Yeah...
It would have been good for them to jump out in front of Rice, Bush unt Cheney, making it even harder for Bush Inc. to argue for privacy.
