Icelandic volcano 'set to erupt'
Source: The Telegraph

Scientists in Iceland are warning that another volcano looks set to erupt and threatening to spew-out a pall of dust that would dwarf last year's event.

Geologists detected the high risk of a new eruption after evaluating an increased swarm of earthquakes around the island's second largest volcano.

Pall Einarsson, a professor of geophysics at the University of Iceland, says the area around Bárdarbunga is showing signs of increased activity, which provides "good reason to worry".

He told the country's national TV station that a low number of seismometer measuring devices in the area is making it more difficult to determine the scale and likely outcome of the current shifts.

Holy Cowabunga!

wiki: "Bárdarbunga the glacier is a large and powerful Stratovolcano. It is also Iceland's largest volcanic system, considered to be close to 200 km long and up to 25 km wide."

3. It makes the last eruption look like a small fart
But there biggest one is called Hekla, nicknamed "Gateway to Hell" by Icelanders. And it's overdue apparently.

Pack your shit, folks.

5. There's another Icelandic volcano called Dimmuborgir
It means "dark fortress" in English. It might be extinct, but considering the location, I'm not so sure.

And yes, a Norwegian black metal ensemble did name themselves after that formation.

6. The good news is, blotting out the sun helps reduce global warming.
The bad news is, jet aircraft are screwn and there is that blotting out the sun thing.

10. When Yellowstone goes so does America!
There is no way around it...This country will only last along as that volcano remains calm. However, when Yellowstone goes the entire planet will be at risk so it is not like America will be the only country in harms way.

18. I would give anything to live...
at least for another 1000-5000yrs just to see what happens in the world!!

However, I doubt that will happen so going out due to a massive natural disaster like a super volcano would be neat!

Why do you ask?

13. *yawn*
Why the yawn? Because worrying about this does no good as its not something that can be prevented not to mention they are only saying it could go off, I mean heck if we want to worry about a volcano going off we go an even worse one in our own backyard.........Yellowstone.
