Sarah Palin would be an ineffective president, say 6 in 10 Americans, according to new poll
Source: NY Daily News

Sarah Palin is a force to be reckoned with, but the majority of Americans don’t think she’d make an effective President.

A new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll released Monday found that despite her star status, 59% of Americans don't think Palin would be a hit in the White House.

Even among Republicans, just 40% said the former vice presidential candidate would make an effective President.

Since she broke onto the national stage in 2008, Palin has leveraged her political past into multi-million dollar book deals, high-profile speeches, and a Midas touch when it comes to endorsing Republican candidates for the House and Senate, but she hasn't convinced voters she'd be a success as President.

I'm beginning to see the 2012 nominating process as being similar to 2008, with the Republican nominee being the last one standing among a collection of flawed and uninspiring candidates.

4. Yep,
The media keeps on saying she is "LIKED" by the majority of republicans, but they don't mention what you posted, that the vast number of republicans "DON'T" want her to be president because they know she is not qualified and would lose in a race against president Obama! Why the MSM keeps building her ups is beyond me, but they are. I heard Tweety last week going on and on about her being the "choice" of the right and I heard others doing the same thing. I mean could you see her trying to debate president Obama, or actually doing an interview with someone other than a fox news hack?

28. I find little comfort in that last sentence of yours.
She was the only presidential/vice-presidential candidate in history who never had a press conference. AND NEVER GOT CALLED ON IT. She's got a good reason to call it the "lame stream media."
All the news channels and entities in the country should have pilloried her for this and pointed this out. But, no, she got a free ride. And any questions like "What magazines do you read?" are considered a trick question. Look at her debate with Biden. It was considered a "draw" because expectations for her were so low, just the fact that she only winked and didn't vomit green pea soup gave her points.

only 1% difference between the percentages of the public and the Republican part of it? I smell a rat. But that's normal where political polls are concerned.

7. Which is another way of saying she would be a republican president.
"Ineffective" doesn't begin to cover it. Plus, the problem of replacing her mid-term when she quits...

I believe unmitigated disaster would be more like it, and even that may be selling her short on just how much damage she could do in 4 years.

10. I guess it depends on how you define effective.
I think an administration under her control could be quite effective at destroying our economy, foreign relations, and freedoms.

Direct link to the poll.

From this poll I gather that 2.6 in 10 Americans are completely retarded of their own free will. Wonderful. No wonder so many people around the world look down on Americans.

It doesn't tell us what could happen after a Corpublican media blitz in which the public is inundated with Sarah's Wonderful messages.

This assumes, of course, that the Fascist Corpublican Hegemony wants her. Which they might, since she's about as dumb & manipulable as St. Ronald was (albeit worse at remembering her lines).

13. Sarah doesn't give a rip about being President. The job doesn't pay enough.

The article says it all... "Since she broke onto the national stage in 2008, Palin has leveraged her political past into multi-million dollar book deals, high-profile speeches....." That's all she cares about. Talk about having her cake and eating it too, with the gig she's got going now she doesn't have to answer reporters "gotcha' " questions, doesn't have to debate, doesn't even have to think. And she's making millions. Why would she want the hassle of being President?

30. she'd want it for the reason every other Republican wants it
Just to say she did it. And for the money which will come through favors and no bid contracts etc...She just may have to wait until her term is over to reap the rewards. Cheney didn't do too bad for himself.

As far as the job itself, meh, what job? Repubs only job is to show how unworkable BIG GOVERNMENT is. They don't have new ideas. that would make them....gasp....progressive thinking. Their only job is to do as little as possible, other than set up their elite class of "haves" with more tax breaks, less regulations etc... so they will be well cared for by their friends when their term ends.

All she needs is a good speech writer and press secretary, and a smarter VP (which shouldn't be too difficult)

A little birdie once told me that Patrick Buchanan ran for President in 2000 largely so that he could clear the books on his '92 and '96 bids, but I don't know enough about campaign finance to guess if that story is true or not.

Palin may not wish to find herself mired in the same trap, as you suggest.

But on the other hand, with corporate largesse certain to balloon in the next couple of election cycles, she may see an opportunity for personal profit which hasn't previously existed. If she sees the chance to make money while riding corporate jets and mooning in front of the cameras, I think she'll take it.

of idiots. Does anyone else think it is scary that 40% of our population think this idiot would be effective in the White House? Maybe she would be effective if effective is defined as destroying what is left of America.

35. I think it is very scary
I don't think people pay much attention though. they just get snippets of the news. I would hope if she really did run, they would pay attention to her political failings and not as many would vote for her. Many would vote for her just because she is a woman though.

she's waiting for the open field again, like in 2008. That's when she will unleash her fox/corporate supported version of dingbat fascism upon America.

Wait for it.
