Palin Power: Fresh Face Now More Popular Than Obama, McCain
Source: Rasmussen

A week ago, most Americans had never heard of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Now, following a Vice Presidential acceptance speech viewed live by more than 40 million people, Palin is viewed favorably by 58% of American voters. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 37% hold an unfavorable view of the self-described hockey mom.

The figures include 40% with a Very Favorable opinion of Palin and 18% with a Very Unfavorable view (full demographic crosstabs are available for Premium Members). Before her acceptance speech, Palin was viewed favorably by 52%. A week ago, 67% had never heard of her.

The new data also shows significant increases in the number who say McCain made the right choice and the number who say Palin is ready to be President. Generally, John McCain’s choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden.

We need to ignore Palin. Make this Obama vs. McCain, and we win... easily.

1. Who is Rasmussen polling?
I think the whole key to the election will be new voters and voter turnout.

They're packaged and marketed like products. Fuck the issues, they're depressing!

3. She's an inexperienced celebrity.

How can 40% of the people possibly have a "very favorable" opinion of someone they never heard of a week ago and who has given three (3) speeches, two of them identical and the other not even written for or by her?

Wait, don't answer that. I'm already depressed. When does that National Enquirer come out?

4. uh...no
"We need to ignore Palin. Make this Obama vs. McCain, and we win... easily."

52% see her favorably because this is their first time seeing her. They know nothing about her, her far-right views, her Rovian tactics, her love of pork-barrel politics, her secessionist husband, her naked handout of taxpayer money to cronies, her un-wed pregnant teenage daughter (and YES, when you run as the party of "family values" that issue is fair game).

Introduce Palin to America and let her be the millstone that sinks McCain.

9. You are correct, Sir!
I was just going to post the same idea. This is as high as her ratings will ever be! I don't see anything that could possibly happen to move them up, but I see many, many things that will drag them down.

America knows nothing about this woman except that she's cute. From this moment on, everything we learn will be bad.

It's like bush's ratings. From 90% on 9/12 to 28% now, in an almost unbroken downward line. If McCain gets elected, I predict his approval rating after one month will be around 45%, and that it will gradually decline to bush-like levels and stay there for however much of his term he completes.

6. We still don't get it ...
a vast majority of red state bible-thumping, trailer park hicks are indubitably stupid. They see in Palin one of them -- husband with DUI, she with radical fundie views, a pregnant daughter. They like wars and warmongers because it gives them a testosterone kick the same way WWE or NASCAR do. Unless these people are educated, they will continue to rule us.

7. John McCain’s choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden.
In a way I agree. If McCain somehow pulls this off it will be entirely because of his pick of Palin. Also IMO Obama's pick of Biden went directly against his meme of "Change you can Believe in". What is Change about Biden?

11. Are you serious?
Could you possibly have written "What is change about Biden"? Have you ever heard of Dick Cheney? Do you figure Biden is exactly the same as Cheney then?

Listen up. When we say "change" for Washington, we are referring to a change in attitude and values, not a change to leadership by untested, inexperienced non-contenders like Palin simply because they are "new faces" or a "breath of fresh air"!

Come on. Biden represents a huge potential for change in the White House. Palin, like McCain, represents more of the same. Get it now?

8. I've said it before and I'm going to say it again. obama has
one huge obstacle and that is the color of his skin. people are going to judge him on that alone. he will have to be very very good in the debates, and biden can not make any mistakes. people are looking for a reason not to vote for obama, not to see who is the best choice.

13. Flip the ticket, Republicans.

The voters have already rejected John McCain as washed up, gone soft and out of touch. You'd better flip the ticket NOW, and put Palin at the top. Yay, Sarah Palin!

:D
